Yes , my dear. That just depends on the climate & temperature you put it in. The bad smell came from the dirty container you put it in, that effects the water.

1st said by others caste system, better child equality.
mine creepy education system(mushroom coaching centers too), difference among people in marriage region-wise, bureaucracy, encroachment on roads & protection of these people by local politicians etc. List is long but we can have certain reservations while dealing with these issues.

1 - The edu system is the same in the World, should it be abolished and should we bring in a new system? But what mate? Which system? Whats the guarante it will not be `compromised `after a decade or two?

2- Peoplle tend to marry regionally coz of their culture.. Im from Punjab , Patiala. Few days back a co worker of my Dad told hiim that there is a Jat family from Haryana , near Sirsa , they are looking for a girl to marry their son off , Dad came home and had a word with Mom , and tehy agreed it wont be compatible, as they are Jats , different lang. different believes, and Jats are more conservative generally speaking.. and moreover as the place is like 4-5 hours away from Patiala , how will we know about the family ( what they do etc. U have to consider all these thiings before marrying off Ur daughter)

So marrying closer to home is always a benefit IMO.

Story of Parvati.

Sati in Modern India started as follows -

Few reliable records exist of the practice before the time of the Gupta empire, approximately 400 CE. After about this time, instances of sati began to be marked by inscribed memorial stones. The earliest of these are found in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, though the largest collections date from several centuries later, and are found in Rajasthan.

Brahmins were forbidden from the practice by the Padma Purana. A chapter dated to around the 10th century indicates that, while considered a noble act when committed by a Kshatriya woman, anyone caught assisting an upper-caste Brahmin in self-immolation as a "sati" was guilty of Brahminicide.
By about the 10th century sati, as understood today, was known across much of the subcontinent. It continued to occur at a low frequency, with regional variations, until the early 19th century.

Later to save themselves from being raped by invaders the Rajasthani Rajput women started this practice of burning into the pyre of husband, which later became a social evil, as due to land or money, the relative used to throw woman into pyre of husband. It is legally banned now.
