What is Wrong with America and Its People ?

.

correspond the map of places people who own guns and contrast it with this map of the mega regions of America. In areas of lower economic activity people don’t have anyone but themselves as their families to fall back on, so they hold fast to family and their guns. The collapse of the middle class, the opioid crisis, and the broken families have previously “tribal/clan based” areas of America into a Wild West where everyone has to be on guard for desperate people doing desperate things. There is also the large number of untreated drug addicts and mentally ill that are overburdening the social programs. Only the core cities with their strict guns laws have a veneer of safety propped up by large police forces, such as in New York. The once affluent suburbs of these major cities are seeing white flight back to the cities (gentrification) And along with it reducing the tax base of those areas. The suburbs will decay even further and the guns will come ever closer to the cities.

Guns ownership rates have been high in these areas well before any opioid crisis or “collapse of the middle class”.

You can’t make a generalization that people are fleeing the suburbs for high police protection cities. Maybe in your area it is true but in my area the crime rates in many nice suburbs are laughably low. When the reports are full of incidents where the police were called to somebody’s house because “their dog was barking too loudly” you know there is no comparison. I doubt the police in cities even bother going to such incidents.

There are crappy suburbs too. If I was living in a suburb where the median family income was only $20,000 (including my own) and the crime rate was high i’d probably move to the city too.

One Automatic Gun in wrong hand can cause massive damage and innocent people loose their lives over it , if some regulations can reduce the level of threat and amount of such attacks that what is wrong in it ? for protection you can keep a piston or even a semi Automatic gun but you have to dress like COD player with tons of Guns and Ammo and literally march outside a Government build to protest and intimidate the legislators ?

@KAL-EL @F-22Raptor @Hamartia Antidote @RabzonKhan @Meengla @American Pakistani @PakFactor Your thoughts guys

You mean like this?

People who played with guns, real or toy tend to dress like that. For them it is like an experience, it is not something that these people familiar with that line of work, more like a sort of a pretending kind of stuff. Sometime these people are crazy enough to pay money to get everything real except the guns.

By the way, that is not some gun nuts heaven in America, that is a local airsoft game in Hong Kong.

As for America and their militia. Those people think they are guardian of the states, and the front line of defence for an "Invasion" that is never going to happen. Most of them are right wing nationalist who think the government is not doing enough to protect them. Mostly from terrorist attack, or so they say. And those militia are inline with government policy and usually law abiding, a few of them, however, are anti-government and actively target the government for their stance, organisation such as sovereign citizen are usually the concern of law enforcement agency in the US since 1990s.

I think in the end, what the FBI news release in regard to the militia problem make the situation quite clear, they are not to monitor who join what militia group, they are to monitor criminal activities, and they try to protect the right for every American. And to this end, this is the only stance they can take, because those people have not breaking any law and they need trust to work with these people, otherwise these militia group will see that as a chance to become anti-government.

Oh brother! I'm quite sure poverty isn't because of guns. Guns are because of poverty.

kinda make sense that they feel threatened because of being poor and isolated from the rest of rich or corporate America , but how much you think they are willing to go if Govt make harder to buy or keep Guns ?

Well the government can’t ban guns but the problem is those crappy states with lax gun laws (and aren’t going to change them) allow weapons to trickle over borders and cause havoc in other states.

If the law in one state allows people to ride motorcycles without helmets then stupid people when they get to the border of that state are going to take off their helmets. It doesn’t have to do with the Civil War.

Some guns are legal in one state and illegal in another. Some states think riding motorcycles is stupid while others think they are great. The laws become stricter in one state for motorcycles and lax in others.

It isn’t easy in most states to walk around with a gun in your hands so most intimidation is by criminals. Of course some states laws are more lax than others.

In many states you have to get a special permit from the police to walk around with a gun. Good luck to that.

Gun ownership is older then the nation. Enshrined in the constitution right after free speech. The steady increase in gun ownership, over the last 30-40 years, is a sign of the breakdown of social cohesion and trust brought about by the winner take all economics and the politics that go along with it.

There are indeed still nice suburbs where the crime is low, and as long as the rich and middle class stay in those suburbs and the tax base is solid, the crime will be low. This is not to say poorer neighborhood will automatically become beacons for crime, because the people that live there also want to live in peace and safety.

my generalization was in relation to the expected pattern of a boom and bust suburb, when economics turn an otherwise nice/decent suburb or town into a blighted landscape. If the residents lose their jobs or the large local employer leaves town and the local economy takes a severe hit, it can destroy the stability of that town. that blight will attract desperate people, already in poverty or another tough position, to move in for the cheap rent, and the locals may turn to guns to keep safe if there is a spike in crime.
