Last year, Alibaba’s two most-popular websites had sales worth $240 billion, more than both Amazon.com Inc. and eBay Inc. combined. By way of comparison, India’s e-commerce market is worth around $2 billion. Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. went public Friday and by the end of the day the company had a market value of $231 billion.

The company’s oldest website, Alibaba.com, has sellers from 240 countries, including India. And while you can’t buy an “anti-riot vehicle with turret” in India like you can in China, you can get a pretty serious-looking bulletproof vest—and eggs.
But don’t expect to use Alibaba to save on grocery bills, the minimum order must fill a forty-foot shipping container–that is around 2,600 cartons of eggs. Even with an advertised six-month-long shelf life, you would be hard pressed to make enough omelets before they went bad.
Most of Alibaba’s options seem to be geared at small businesses looking to compare prices for machinery. A would-be Indian poultry magnate can get their start for as little as $200 by purchasing a chicken feather plucking machine.
Not surprisingly given the demand for Indian hair in the West, one of the most popular items sold by Indians on Alibaba is human hair.
And it comes as little surprise that there are a host of skin-whitening creams available from India, including some marketed as being for “African skin” and others containinghydroquinone, which has been banned in the U.S. because it might cause cancer.

But it is unlikely anyone expected to be able to purchase a roller coaster from Legend India’s Import Export Ltd. in Madhya Pradesh. The company also says it builds replicas of famous monuments. Previous jobs included creating a “hundred year old Canadian gold mining town in Germany,” according to the company’s Alibaba page.
You can even buy a picturesque thatched roof cottage in Port Blair in the Andaman Islands.

Or, for those looking for something a bit more modern, this geodesic dome house costs $8,000 that sellers say can be assembled in four hours.

Commuting back and forth to work would be a breeze in your electric Unicorn Nova sports car, but since Alibaba.com isn’t a retail website, you’ll have to buy at least two.
