What's new

What does a Bangladeshi of today thinks of Pakistan?

Why didn't you hang him if he was caught in the Agartala case? Where is the proof? A poorly made video of some of Bengali rajakars don't change history.

I am not a Mujib fan .But labeling him traitor is a historical mistake.

Mujib used Bengali sentiment to gain vote Bank. He promised Yahya the post of president in future cabinet so that the election could take place. After the election Mujib refused to honor that promise. Bhutto utilized the situation and asked Yahya not to hand over the power. Mujib started strike. Pakistan Army started transporting Baloch and Punjabi troops in East Pakistan to put an end to country wide strikes. Bengali officers gave the intelligence to Mujib. Some of mujib's party member asked him to declare independence. But Mujib refused saying it would be treachery. Then he was arrested and flown to West Pakistan. He had no clue what happened in Bengal. After the war Bhutto came to him freed him and asked him to keep the United Pakistan. Mujib expressed his wish to keep united Pakista the first Bengali he met in London. But he was warned that that was not possible after a bloody war. Otherwise he will face coup.

From the moment Mujib landed in BD, he asked indian army to leave BD breaking a war time treaty. Then against the will of Indira gandhi he joined OIC in Lahore.

If you call this gaddari, there is no loyal Pakistani.

One of our biggest mistakes as a nation is not hanging traitors by the balls when their plans become apparent. We didn't do that in 60s and 70s and we are still not doing it now. Now even former Indian Foreign office and RAW officials are writing in their books the details of how Mujib worked with them since 1962 to break Pakistan. Here's a sample of that from Moeed Pirzada's book review:

"India, Mujib-ur-Rehman, Bangladesh Liberation & Pakistan by Sashanka Bannerjee (Ex-Indian Diplomat) - available in Kindle Edition. I finished reading this a day ago. If you can put up with Bannerjee's hatred of Pakistan and its army then this is an interesting account of India's Intelligence operations in former East Pakistan. It is worthwhile to read, because Bannerjee was a Political Counselor in Indian Consulate in Dacca and provides you graphic minute details of Sheikh Mujib ur Rehman's meeting with himself, Sourja Komar Choudhry (Deputy Chief of Mission) and Col Ghosh (Station Chief, Indian Military Intelligence) as early as December of 1962 where Sheikh writes a letter to Nehru asking for all kind of help for creating an Azad Bangladesh. And how Nehru then resonds instituting financial, political, logistical, political help setting into motion a 7-8 years long intelligence operation to create hatred, mistrust and desire for freedom that culminates in Pakistan's military operation in 1971. Fascinating read because it helps you to understand that Indian Intelligence has edge and specialization in cultural, education and information warfare. Book also provides some insights into ISI's counter moves into Mizoram, and Indian Punjab in 1970's....simple to read and easy to follow....Bannerjee now lives in UK after his retirement..."

And after independence, you know what your Mujib did? He thew the false 3 million killings and rape allegation on Pakistan to tarnish Pakistan's image. Then he conspired with India again and threatened to start trials of Pakistan army officers in East Pakistan if Pakistan didn't accept Bangladesh's independence. One of the biggest traitors in the history of Islam. Puts Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq to shame. If you're no fan of him then please don't defend him. Forget about him and start defending your country from Indian onslaught.

I totally agree Sir. Without jumping onto ideal situation, an understanding may be reached to have atleast common defence policy. It would be better if both Bangladesh and Pakistan armies send their officers to each other training institutions in the first phase and on deputation to each others units in second phase. In the third phase, 3-5 units ONLY can be rotated by both countries by sending into each others countries as a goodwill gesture.

An advanced stage may include two prime ministers, one president to be filled in alternately by Pakistani and Bangladeshi in every 4 year turn. However, both countries may be allowed to follow their own economic policy that suits them and some degree of independence in even foreign policy.
We trained Bengali army officers in PMA, they were a part of Pakistan army. But they turned around and stabbed us in the back. They broke our army in two. They conspired with India against Pakistan! They provided intel to India! I'll never advocate for allowing them back in again. Military indiscipline seems to run in Bengali blood as is apparent from 71 and whatever happened in Bangladesh till now. They cannot be trusted. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

A relationship is built of trust first and foremost. China trusts us not to share their latest technologies with India or US. We never ever betrayed their trust and never will. We will get their stealth planes, our pilots fly their top of the line Su30MKKs & J-10s on deputation, our militaries war game with each other sharing tactics and strategies all around the year, we walked in China's space facilities as the only foreign nationals to set foot in them, we are the only country after China that has access to military grade signal of their Beidu GPS, heck, they even shared a nuke bomb design with us, all based on that trust! If we had turned around, like Iran did with Pakistan on the centrifuges issue, and made this public or leaked China's tech or secrets, you can bet that China would never share their stuff with us again. Same is the case with Bangladesh and Pakistan. I cannot imagine us sharing our military tactics, hardware or strategic foreign policy with Bangladesh because we cannot trust them to keep it safe from India. That trust is gone, probably forever, or at least until India exists as a nation.

All of the Bangladeshi citizens which I met, during my time in Oman, had pretty much positive opinion of Pakistan and had more of negative opinion against India.
The person who thought me how to read and learn Quran was a bengali. He also never had any opinion against Pakistan. He was pro Bangladeshi and Pakistani at the same time.
When I entered college, I had two Bangladeshi in my class. We became best friends on the very first day.
And it is also a wrong claim that only Muslim Bangladeshi support Pakistan. One of my Bengali friend from my time in college was a bhuddist.
So overall bengali people which I met had positive opinion about Pakistan

Most Bangladeshis don't care about Pakistan because people to people contact is extremely limited between Bangladeshis and Pakistanis. Bangladeshis mostly connect with Indians because we are surrounded by Indians from all sides. So its hard to ignore them.

Most Bangladeshis extremely despise the state of Pakistan due to brutal genocide in 1971 by Pakistan to Bangladeshi people but this hatred is limited to the country Pakistan , its army, Taliban and other radical elements in Pakistan, not the common Pakistanis.

Some Bangladeshis have inferiority complex over skin color and height and wish they could be as 'fair' and 'tall' as Pakistanis. Bangladeshis in general are obsessed with fair skin and tall physique as we are not 'blessed' with fair skin and tall physique naturally. There are exceptions here and there but more than 95% Bangladeshis are dark looking like South Indians and majority of Bangladeshis are short to medium. As Pakistanis comparatively far superior in looks department than Bangladeshis most people here envy you guys for your outer look.

Bangladeshis are Muslims (90%) in majority but due to Hindu culture of Bengal for thousand of years the landmass got a culture which is a blend of Hinduism and Islam. So you will see a Bangladeshi woman putting a red bindi (Hindu symbol) on forehead which will look strange to a Pakistani.

Bangladeshis don't like Pakistan as a country but has no ill feeling for common Pakistanis.
Tall in height? That is wrong thing to say. My Bengali friends were same in height with me. And I have average height size from Pakistani point.
So I never noticed any inferiority complex from the Bengali people which I met.

What has the world come to? When someone can slag off his own race (@Riyad) and a Pakistani feller is refuting his claims. (Indian alert)

and reminded the genocide of Pakistan army in Bangladesh during 1971 war. .

But you failed to mention genocide of West Pakistanis committed by Bangladeshis before Pakistan army took action. It was basically reaction, so don't keep on crying. What goes around comes around.

End of conversation.

It has been my utmost desire to discuss with my Bangladeshi brothers regarding what they think about Pakistan. What happened in 1971? What was truth and what were exaggerations? As a Pakistani citizen, I feel saddened and heart broken from the incidents that lead to bloodshed of Bengali brethren which resultantly lead to creation of Bangladesh but at the same time respecting the identity and sovereignty of Bangladesh .I would like to hear from Bangladeshi friends the truth no matter how hard and how bitter it is.

Please inform and be open.
Pakistan is a special country to me as a Bangladeshi. there is significant recent political history and history from time immemorial that really binds us. with shared history, we have shared heritage and culture. Awami League (BAL) and the communist forces that run BAL seem to want to estrange timeless ties between the two regions.

most importantly, the commie-BALs' want to dismember Bangladeshis from their own Muslim heritage. they want to dismember Bangladeshis from the Pakistan Movement in Bengal because they see the Pakistan Movement as working to safeguard our Muslim interests, and our identity, culture and values.

But you failed to mention genocide of West Pakistanis committed by Bangladeshis before Pakistan army took action. It was basically reaction, so don't keep on crying. What goes around comes around.

a Pakistan army action was absolutely justified to protect East Pakistani people. the way it was conducted was self-defeating though. a lot of patriotic East Pakistanis were also killed by pro-India people.

interesting. not just Muslims in Bangladesh are fond of Pakistan. and also, not all patriotic East Pakistanis before 1972 were Muslims.

Wow! A Bangladeshi saying that Pakistan was justified in genocide of other Bangladeshis!

A class one traitor if there was one!

Bangladeshis are politically mislead and forced away from Pakistan. A politics fueling on hatred is being played there by Hasina just to get votes. Even on governmental level, those Bangladeshis who are seen laughing and talking to Pakistanis are issued warnings. i.e Bangladeshi Women Cricket Team! The decision done by Bangladesh of not allowing supporters to wave other country's flag was just specifically to target Pakistan and these things hurted!
Only if those people recognize that after them we are the only nation capable of loving them and no one else!

The genocide issue has been discussed in light of statements of your very own countrymen. Go through the thread. It is pertinent to mention here that anti insurgency operations have been carried out by both Pakistan Army and indian army. However, charges of rape especially and genocide was levelled against indian army in all operations be it Kashmir, Manipur. On the other hand genocide charges on Pakistan Army have never been thoroughly investigated previously in Bangladesh. It is in recent years that work is being done on it and the findings are showing it to be highly exaggerated and false.

watch the following thread mentioning the angelic face of indian army.

Good for Pakistan Bangladesh relation in the long run. Wait and see. Pakistan's job meaantime is not to take the bait by reacting..... Hasina is on the peak. She has neutrlized media, army, writers , election commission and opposite parties. But she cannot rule for eternity
by the way `Just to get vote` is incorrect, to get India's support. India has delivered. They Successfully managed to defend her illegal election wihout BNP's participation in international arena.

This thread does not represent all the views of Bangladeshis, people like khair_ctg's opinion is a minority. Very few people regret moving away and as facts show it was for the best.

don't be so insecure about khair_ctg's opinion. what did we move away from? do you regret being invaded and colonized by India?

I am not insecure, your opinion is your opinion and you have a right to express it. Even if I do not agree with it and your choice of words to express it.

It's a taboo as a Bangladeshi to talk positive of Pakistan. Our secular writers and media have firmly established a Bengali Identity which is anti Pak in nature.

So Bangladeshis who don't hate Pakistan like to keep it quiet. So in a narrow naked eye It may seem that Majority Bangladeshis hate Pakistan which is not true.
Which part of Bangladesh you live in that you say most bangladeshi dont hate pakistan. You rohingaa or something?

I know as it is fact. I am a Bangladeshi and my leader Sheikh Mujib was found hugging Bhutto 3 years after massacre.
