I had a really strange meeting today...to understand what i mean i must tell you the background.
Our department has 500 employee and is divided in two teams
The entire department is ruled from a so called department leader. That man is a very respected person. He is in the leading board and a absolute authority...but will go retire by january.
Below him are two team leaders. One is a women and the other one is my own teamleader. And each teamleader has one so called Leader Assistant.
We had two leader assistants but one left few weeks ago. The one remaining is best friend of the other team leader...which gives that teamleader a boost in power and influence.
Now it was clear that the vacant position would be given to an employee...and it turns out that teamleader placed her bet on another favorite of her. That would give her both leader assistants under her rule and she propably could win the power game...
Now i come into the game...i have excellent results and a great renomee but i´m too young. I would never even try to get into a high position yet. Now my teamleader approached me several times during the last weeks and invites me for dinner and expensive events. It felt like he tries to introduce me into the "olymp"...
Now yesterday i was alone in my office and he came in. He told me i must write an application for the vacant leader assistant job and send the email to the department leader. He also told me "certain persons" would be against me in that position but that he made some "preparations"...
and now some events in the last week make sense. Because there was a small vacant "PR Job" i applied for but i did not get it. The favorite girl got it...it looked like a loss for me but now i realize that what looked like a win for her turns out to be a burden. She just got a small additional position. It would look strange if she gets a huge step up in position within weeks...
If my teamleader gets me into that position...he gets a 50/50 chance to become the department leader and even gain a seat in the board...
One of my nerd buddies said it looks like some sick power game, similar to how the emperor in star wars used Anakin Skywalker...xD
