NEW YORK: Billionaire Donald Trump has described the United States as the laughing stock of the world in so far as its foreign policy initiatives are concerned.

Trump, who is flirting with a White House run in 2012, said Washington is too timid to wield its power assertively on the world stage.

"We have such power if we knew how to use it," Trump told CNN television in an interview.

He said that by failing to move more decisively in its foreign policy, "this country is a laughing stock throughout the world".

Trump, 64, has not yet announced that he is running for president, but he has become more visible in recent weeks, giving more interviews and stepping up his criticism of President Barack Obama ahead of a possible 2012 challenge.

Trump has a massive financial empire that spans everything from beauty contests to prime New York real estate.

Ranked the 420th wealthiest person this year by Forbes magazine with 2.7 billion dollars, the man has said that if he decides to run for the White House, he is likely to make the announcement on his own hit reality TV show, Celebrity Apprentice.

The weakened US is still by far the most powerful country in the world.

Look at the NATO without US in Libya. They are running like headless chickens and begging US to come to their lead once again.

Trump himself is the laughing stock of the world...............this guy is such a attention seeking ****. International politic is not some TV show you know......... I hope American would elect him just to say "you're fired" soon after.

If you look at it from an american point of view, trump is right. For us however, not so nice...

W00t! Two cents!

It is true though, the only Superpower, under Obama is a laughing stock. Obama extended his hand in "peace"(That`s what he calls it) to Iran so many times, i`m surprised he still has any limbs left attached to his body.

I guess Ahmadinezad allowed US to visit their nuclear sites.

US didn`t visit those nuclear sites and he "extended his hand for peace" because he thought the Persians would perceive the generosity as a good thing while they are laughing their @sses off at his delusional optimism...

Who knows, after all Iran-US not different in some war criteria.
Obama is caught by promises he did for presidency and know he couldn't fulfill them.
Biden can tell exactly about Laughing stock of World.

Criticism:a good instrument to up light personality for particular purposes.

As a long term individual Republican I would like to see either New Jersey Governor Christie or Florida freshman US Senator Ribio run for and win the Republican nomination. Mr. Trump is a flash point in time and has never been popularly elected to any office and has been bankrupt as often as he has been successful as a businessman. Trump came from money so not a self made man.

there's no way a clown like this can beat obama in a general election. I think john huntsman( former us ambassodor to china) have the best chance to beat obama...but he has very little chance to win the GOP nominations.

Replublican party is so fragmented right now...their far right wing have totally hijacked the GOP.

30% of americans are conservative, 30% are liberals, 40% are centrist. you cant win by being leaning too far left or right.

.
good joke ,this weakened U.S still hold's the capability to beat any so called strong country in the world. we just hope that it dosen't start growing again ,otherwise we will never be able to catch it up.

christie is looks like a trustworthy guy, but then again when you get elected to the highest office you have to deal with very powerful lobbies...being a governor is a cake walk compare to being president. christie is very impressive getting thus far keeping his campaing promises and taking only the powerful unions.

macro rubio would be very interesting...would latinos vote for him and the GOP?
