What's new

We were screened for coronavirus upon landing in Pakistan. Nobody checked when we returned to JFK.

Probably more flights land at JFK in a day then the total number of flights that land in the whole of Pakistan in one month, we are talking about hundreds of thousands of travellers per day, who can possibly screen them all ?
They can screen all those passengers for security reasons.....it much easier to check their temps.

It's not about financial resources, if you have ever travelled to a western city with very busy airport like JFK, you would know how difficult it is to screen travellers when they are piling up as a new plane with 300+ passengers lands every 15 /20 seconds

You gave impressive numbers. Now thatr also applies to US resources. It has the money to do that. So yes it can.

Checking temp is not a fool-proof or effective system. Symptoms take a couple of days to appear while the person can already be carrying and spreading the virus.

Heard similar "no screening at airports" story in Canada, UK, US. Big contrast from nations in Asia where I saw that even for food takeouts, some restaurants are doing temperature check on customers.
