We don’t attack innocent Indian civilians : LeT
Srinagar, Nov 21: A day after Army said that Lashkar-e-Toiba and ISIS may be joining hands to carry out attacks in India, the militant outfit Saturday dismissed the charges, saying “we do not attack innocent civilians”.
In an emailed statement to media houses here, LeT chief Mahmood Shah said that “Daish (ISIS) is an anti-Islam group created by the West, and India is also completely involved in its creation.
“Our aim is to fight Indian army in Kashmir, and not to attack innocent civilians within India. The assertion made by the army is propaganda to defame us, which India has been doing from several decades. World is aware of this propaganda drama,” LeT spokesman Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi Shah quoted Shah as saying in the statement.
Pertinently, Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 16 Corps had on Thursday said in Jammu region that LeT and ISIS may join hands to carry out attacks in India.
“Yes, that (IS joining hands with LeT to launch attacks in India) can be a possibility as the motive of the terrorists is to spread their propaganda,” Lt Gen RR Nimbhorkar had said.
The militant outfit also asked the state government to “swiftly” release Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Asiya Andrabi.
