WB provided $34.30 billion to developing countries

WASHINGTON: World Bank during the fiscal year 2006-07 provided $34.30 billion to the developing countries for their poverty alleviation and economic development.

WB handout released here said that the loans disbursed by this international organization during the fiscal year ending June 30, 2007 were 7.8 percent higher as compared to the previous fiscal year.

WB President Robert B Zoellick said that the World Bank provided $34.30 billion funds for 620 projects in the shape of loans, assistance, equity, investment and security. During the previous fiscal year, IDA invested $11.90 billion, IBRD $12.80 billion and IFC $8.20 billion.
