Water pipe connecting machine

.
So I was trying to fix a water pipe problem and after some frustration called a guy to fix it.

The guy had one of these things and I was blown away. Not new technology but something I hadn't seen before.

expensive ..but easy to operate ?

He didn't seem to have any problems. This thing took seconds to join pipes. He was even in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. I thought compression connectors with a wrench were cool but this thing does an obvious 100% seal. He wasn't even bothering to check for leaks.

No we were replacing the dishwasher..which is pretty simple. I was doing it myself when I found out the hot water lever shutoff valve under the sink wasn't working (I loosened the compression connection under the dishwasher and far more hot water came out than expected). I ended up scrambling to another shutoff further up the line. Looked at the shutoff under the sink and it didn't seem easily fixable. Connected the dishwasher back up and called the plumber.

I shut the main line off for him and instead of just cutting off the bad valve he snipped ALL the hot water pipes under my sink...to my horrified dread!!! He then rebuilt everything with about 5 compression connections, about 2 feet of pipe and 2 new shutoffs (the other one to the sink). He didn't dry out the pipes. He just dry fitted things together and went crimp, crimp, crimp, crimp, crimp and I was like WTF!!! WOW!!! Mind completely blown!

A word of advice :
Never connect pipes without this tool. You will later on notice leakage on your walls.

can this tool work for opening the joint which was sealed by it initially and also can it work on plastic and steel/iron pipes @Hamartia Antidote
