‘People should not have burnt house in Kokernag’
‘Recruitment of SPOs plot to create divide among people’
Daanish Bin Nabi
Srinagar:
Following the footsteps of slain Hizb commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani, the new face of Hizb-ul-Mujahiddin in Valley Zakir Rashid Bhat, alias Musa, has released a new eight minute video on social networking sites especially on facebook which went viral on August 17.
Stating how agencies are creating divide in Kashmir, Zakir says in the video, “Indian agencies are working to create divide between the people. The house where Burhan Bhai was killed in Kokernag should not have been burnt by the enraged people.”
“It is wrong and should have been avoided because there was no evidence against house occupants. Neither people nor we (militant) know what actually happened there. People should have done a full background check whether the members of the said family were guilty or not. We at our own level are also investigating the matter, till then people should not take any step because it also creates a problem for our (militant) movement. People then accuse saying we give shelter to militant and in return people label us as traitors. It creates problems for our movement. Without any proper evidence people should refrain from doing such acts,” new Hizb commander says in the video.
He also thanked people for their “support”.
“We are thankful to all Kashmiris, (those) who gave their lives, and supported the movement,” Zakir, sitting on a chair and dressed in military fatigue said.
The video has three Kalashnikov assault rifles, several books, a wireless set and a dagger placed on a shelf behind him.
Zakir further says in the video the killing of Burhan and his two associates had taken the “Islamic movement” to a new level, and should now be given “full support and taken to conclusion.”
People should continue the ongoing protests in Kashmir, Zakir further says in the video.
Zakir also has asked youths not to attend police recruitment drives. He described recruitment of special police officers, recently advertised by police, as a plot to create a divide among people in the Valley.
“These people want to create an Ikhwan (counter-insurgency group) and want to make Kashmiris fight with each other. Youth should stay away from such conspiracies and not take part in it,” he said.
He warns, “Whosoever takes part in it will be himself responsible for consequences.”
22-year-old Zakir, who studied civil engineering in Chandigarh before joining militant ranks in 2013, is being seen as the successor of Burhan Wani in Kashmir.
Zakir reportedly comes from an educated family and most of his siblings are reportedly either doctors or are perusing the MBBS.
Burhan Wani was killed by the armed forces on July 08, triggering massive protests across Kashmir in which 66 people have died so far.
Talking about the encounters, that “mostly take place in south Kashmir between militants and armed forces”, Zakir says, “When a militant gets trapped in house, he has only one AK 47 to fight with and the Indian army comes in thousands with all the latest technology and equipments but still is afraid to move forward and in process raze the entire house to ground.”
“People don’t know what happens at encounter sites, the Indian forces come heavily drunk before the encounter so that they do not remain in senses, otherwise they will not be able to even come forward for an encounter. Then they (army) and their biased media calls them brave-hearts. They (Army and Indian media) should hang their heads in shame if they term this cowardice act of army as bravery,” Zakir says in the video.
At the start of the video Zakir mentions, “I am not speaking in capacity of commander or chief of the outfit.”
He also said social media is the “only way to reach to the people.”
