I don’t think that this investment (is it on 100% sure that they chose Turkey after all?) will be an obstacle or a threat if the Turkish Government and Private sector are really serious about the National Car Brand project.

Considering that many foreign brands already have production facilities in Turkey some new investment for 5000 people won’t make such a big difference. Also with the new regulations about Diesel vehicles in Western Europe and the plans to transition to electric cars Volkswagen Group looks for a place to continue their production of diesel cars without any problems. Also their plants in Czechia are working on a high overcapacity so they look for a place to expand. Turkey is a place with a big market, numerous and cheap workforce, good infrastructure and an access to many markets.

The EU is regulating against diesel cars in a very aggressive way now - so they're looking at countries to offload their old tech to. I.E. Turkey and the near east. I'll be surprised if the plants are heavily tooled for electric and gasoline engines.

Its too late for a Turkish brand car. Brands like Fiat, Volkswagen, Renault, Nissan, Honda and Toyota have taken over.

Only way to make a turkish brand is to look for new alternatives like hydrogen, solar power and electric powered cars.

How can we sway people from brands??? Turkey used to have its own brands most of them either got bankrupt or sold.

The problem in making a national car most people would prefer buying a Ford or Hyundai or a Toyota.

If Turkey built a luxury most would buy a BMW or a Mercedes. If Turkey built a supercar most rich people in Turkey would go and buy a Ferrari.

Thats the problem when you have well known brands that have been built within 30 to 40 years while Ford has been built within 100 years.

Arcelik and Beko have been built up decades there is many brands in Turkey that have built themselves up and became well known not just in Turkey but in other countries. But im talking about cars not appliances or electronics.

The technology always beats, but not at the top in the list of customer preferences compared... Ford vs. Tesla example specifically in car business has some answers to various fields in mutliple-cross comparisons.

The conventional energy sorces are about to be replaced with the ''endless'' solar energy; unfrotunately such news make it hard and postponed for Turkey to catch up, develop and adapt it for the next age...Just like Nuclear power plants to be built in Turkey will do.

Imagine Turkey with cheaper and ''endless'' solar energy based industry and economy in the global market; and then read the op again to get some clue about the big picture.
