Voter Registration process

You have some time to plan things out, make sure you get yourself registered and are able to be in Pakistan to vote.

Lack of voter turnout has been a big problem in Pakistan, with 30 something % voting, for the entire nation. We need to make sure, votes are casted to bring out the true representatives of Pakistan.

Please try to spread the awareness of the importance of voter turnout. Come election time, we need to double the voter turnout.

Get Your Vote Registered

Most people want to cast their votes but they can not as their votes are not registered nor they are aware of the process of vote registration. PTI suffered in last few by-elections due to this inefficient mechanism for registration. Though it is the responsibility of the Election Commission, there is little hope for any improvement. However we can undo the damage by following the principle of self-help. That is, having people get their vote registered by themselves. Each of us should get not only his or her vote registered, but also guide their families, friends, and neighbors. Spread this message as much as you can.

Anyone can get his or her vote registered at any given time. To get one's vote registered, one must be of age 18 or above and have NIC card issued by the NADRA. The process is essentially simple but require some commitment.

Step1: Collect a form from the Assistant Election commissioner/Registration Officer of your area.

Step 2: Fill the form.

Step 3: Return the form to the Assistant Election commissioner/Registration Officer of your area.

You can get information about the assistant election commissioner in his or her location by making a call to Election Commission at the following numbers:

You may need to call Election Commission more than once. Don't let this discourages you. Voter list from the Assistant Election Commissioner of your area on payment. Alternatively, you can contact our volunteers of your area for any further help.

Get your vote registered as soon as possible and be a decision maker for the better future of Pakistan.

I'm looking for a procedure of getting it done for overseas Pakistanis. In some embassies/consulates, I think you can get it done without coming to Pakistan.

Raheel, I would also suggest, you periodically keep getting your registration confirmed. A lot of people have suffered through lines of voting booths only to find out their vote is not registered while they think it is.

I got registered just before last elections and voted as well. Will check it again though.

I am not sure where would i be during Elections but even if i have to fly to Pakistan just for the elections i am going to do it.
