I like your thinking and attitude @Indus Pakistan , but politics is real sticky point between the two countries sadly...its not going to go away anytime soon.

True. The mutual benefit from emphasis on trade and business relationships between the two nations has the potential to do another India-China, that of ignoring outstanding issues and rendering them to the background and prioritizing trade to the extent that possibility of conflict becomes nil. The potential is huge but obviously, such a scenario does not play out well for those who want to grandstand.

On topic. My favorite remains Contessa. Always loved it for no particular reason (first love? although my earliest memory of a car remains that of a Buick LeSabre Sports Coupe my father had purchased for use in US back in 1984).

You can guess my 'expertise' with having a Honda City which is just 49 months old as of today and has clocked a whopping 12,000 (twelve thousand, no typo;)) kms till date :p: and a Royal Enfield Desert Storm Classic 500 (purchased after selling my wife's vehicle which clocked a massive 55000 kms in 12 yearso_O) which has done a outrageous 1380 kms in 2 years!!!!!:angry:

My legs have done more than 3000 kms in this year till date already:enjoy:

I never even saw a Contessa (when in India) tbh .

Buicks are great btw, esp from that era....comfiest cars ever, they gave tons of travel in the suspension etc at sacrifice of any top notch performance etc. If I had to do a road trip and had a choice for the car etc...definitely an old school buick is probaly in the top 3 somewhere...coz I dont care how it looks/performs etc...its just frigging comfortable!

Haha thats great...sign of quality + reliability. Close friends parents have an 80s Dodge Caravan that has surpassed a million km (buddy told me about the long awaited odometer reset when the grand event finally happened)...normally they are pretty mediocre but they lucked out on this one it seems...it just doesnt want to give up heh.

True. We traveled all over - Atlanta-Ft Campbell-Orlando-Miami-Ft Mc Clellan-Kansas City loaded up in it!

I didn't vote as where is Bajaj Pulsar version in car which is Maruti Swift (my car). You come around Delhi and you will see tons of Swifts.

Hindustan Ambassador

The Ambassador was the longest running production car in the country from 1958 to 2014 with very few changes or improvements made to the car over its lifetime. It was a fairly spacious car, thanks to the semi-monocoque design, and rivalled the likes of the Premier Padmini and Standard 10.

Standard 2000

The Standard 2000 was a luxury car that ran on Indian streets from 1985 to 1988 and was based on the Rover SD1. The India variant featured a higher ground clearance, but never met quality expectations or price expectations in the Indian market.

Contessa Classic

Manufactured by Hindustan Motors, the Contessa was based on the Vauxhall VX Series and first introduced in 1983. The Contessa was one of the few luxury cars available in the Indian market alongside the Standard 2000 and became a favourite of government officials.

Mahindra and Mahindra first started assembly of its larger MUV under the licence of Willys Jeep manufacturing the Jeep CJ3. A direct descendant of the CJ3's design is the Mahindra Thar that is still in production today.

Maruti 800

The Maruti 800 began its life in 1983 and soon went on to become the bestselling car, a title that stuck until 2004. The Maruti Suzuki still remains the second-longest production car in India after the Hindustan Ambassador.

Maruti Gypsy

Maruti Gypsy was introduced in December 1985. It was never really popular with general consumers, but extremely so with law enforcement. Originally available with only a soft-top, a hard top was made available later on. It also went on to replace the Premier Padmini at rally events.

Daewoo Cielo

The Cielo was the second generation Le Mans built by Daewoo motors from 1994 to 1997. It was mechanically identical to the Le Mans and was only differentiated by styling. The car was based on the Open Kadett E and was underpinned by the T-Car platform.

Daewoo Matiz

The Daewoo Matiz was first introduced in 1998 and ran for four years straight. The designed was signed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, an automobile designer who worked on a range including Aston Martin's DB4 GT Bertone Jet and the Bugatti EB 118.

Tata Safari

The Tata Safari is classified as a mid-sized SUV and was initially launched in 1998. The Safari was built around the Peugeot XD88 turbo-diesel that made 87 PS of power and mated to a 5-speed transmission. It is available in a front-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive option.

Mitsubishi Lancer

The Mitsubishi Lancer had a fairly decent fan following in India with its long fluid lines. It was available in three engine options including a 1.8-litre turbocharged powertrain and mated to a choice of three transmission options as well.

The Maruti Swift has undergone several transformations since it first launched. This year, the hatchback received the Indian Car Of The Year Award.

Hyundai i20 Elite

The Hyundai Elite has been extremely popular ever since its launch in 2014. Available in a range of engine and transmission options, it still manages to garner attention wherever it goes.

Tata Harrier

The Tata Harrier has just launched and deliveries are expected to begin early next year. Built around the same platform as the Land Rover Discovery Sport, it features a Tata's new Kryotec 2-litre engine that produces 140 PS of power and 350 Nm of peak torque.

Really don't like the path TATA design team is taking. I fear that they'll relaunch the Safari, Sierra, Sumo, Estate brands under this new design philosophy.

Safari should be iterated as TATA's Landcruiser/Patrol whereas Sierra should retain its clean look.

But can't help but think that the new design has a part to play in their latest excellent safety records.

Lahore would be ideal site as parts could be transported from Amritsar.

You can choose a place in Sindh near Gujarat Border. Gujarat is all set to become the Hub of car manufacturing in India. Maruti is putting up a 7.5 lakh car plant in Gujarat. TATA, GM and many others are present in Gujarat and it is all set to grow. If Pakistan choose a TATA assembly line in Pakistan, it can have very nice world class cars at a very affordable rate. We are all set to have 85 new cars in 2019 and this is a one car launch every forth day.

I've had so much trouble with my Storme in 6 years of ownership that I've sworn never to buy another Tata car.

While my gearbox was getting rebuilt (bearing failure inside 50,000 km ...) they had oven me Zest to drive.

I have heard people ooohing and aaahing about Bolt and Zest etc as if these new gen Tata cars are the ultimate holy grail.

So unimpressed man.

My 12 year old Baleno runs rings around it. Beauty.

My kid brother is Life President of its fan club.

I kid you not man. Years ago in typical Bombay floods, when everything had come to a grinding halt, he had driven me to the airport with water literally at the level of the window sills.

That is one friggin amazing little car.

So, if Pakistan opened up to Indian auto industry, a market of 200 million people, your saying Tata etc would say 'no'? For them it would require minimum investment to grab a slice in Pakistan.
And says who while inviting Chinese companies to invest in their country ....you see how double faced pathetic liars they are.
