This seems to be first authentic news on this topic. Therefore I have opened a new thread.

Please note: Pakistani army spokesman downplayed the border incident, saying “it does not in anyway” change Pakistan’s stated policy of helping the Afghan government’s efforts aimed at bringing peace to their conflict-torn nation.

Here is the link to VOA. Personally I think this is not good for either side, but especially for Pakistan. We are trying to suppress lawlessness in the area. This type of clashes will not help.

Pakistan, Afghan Report Deadly Border Clash
by Ayaz Gul

A border clash between Pakistan and Afghanistan overnight has left one Afghan security personnel dead and two Pakistani soldiers wounded, officials in both countries confirmed Wednesday.

Pakistan military spokesman Major-General Asim Bajwa told VOA its soldiers were engaged in a construction activity at the Angoor Adda border area when they came under attack from the Afghan side.

“Our men responded to the rocket and small arms firing by the Afghan security forces,” he said, adding that two Pakistani soldiers sustained injuries in the incident.

The army spokesman would not comment on casualties on the other side.

Afghanistan’s interior ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi told reporters in Kabul that the border clash left one Afghan personnel dead. He said that the government has sent a special team to probe the circumstances leading to the clash.

Angoor Adda is in Pakistan’s insurgency-hit South Waziristan tribal region. It borders the Barmal district of Afghanistan’s southeastern Paktika province.

Sediqi alleged that the construction the Pakistani forces were undertaking violated mutual understandings and "Afghan forces are authorized to take action to prevent such attempts."

Pakistani spokesman General Bajwa, however, rejected the allegation.

“The activity did not constitute violation of the border because it was being undertaken on our side,” he added. He denied Afghan media claims that eight Pakistani soldiers were killed in the clashes.

Angor Adda is in Waziristan and a Pakistani territory. Pakistani Army in the past too when tried to establish check-posts there the Afghan Army attacked them in the past too.

This time the same happened. It is to be remembered that Angor Adda area is the point where Afghan Army infiltrates TTP and other anti-Pakistan terrorists who attack Pakistanis.

Few years back this was den of Taliban but whenever Pakistan tried to clean the area through operation the Afghan Army always disrupted it by shelling

Pakistan has a long history of hiding causalities. Don't forget about Kargil , tirah valley etc.,

The free media here in KPK reported 6 injuries on our side.

No causalities so far. But even when there are there is this methodology that the information is slowly filtered not for purpose of hiding but to give time to the bereaved families of the soldiers to be prepared mentally.

Pakistan needs to convey a strong message to the Afghans that Pakistan has had enough of terrorism and any misadventure from Afghanistan will be rigorously dealt with. Pakistan from now onwards, should hit Afghans deep in their territory for such border antics. If Pakistan wont set an example they wont learn.

My internet is dead slow at the moment maps take years to download but if you look at the map you can understand the location of Angor Adda is important to check the movement of militants. Its an entry point in fact leading to Ladha, Shakai, Sararogha and Wana etc and the history of Afghan Army attacks is long almost from 2003.

Once Pakistan have many check posts in Angor Adda the infiltration of terrorists from Afghanistan into Pakistan and from Pakistan to Afghanistan can be stopped for a greater level .

Cross-border attack injures 2 Pakistani soldiers in Angoor Adda - The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD: At least two Pakistani security personnel were injured when the Angoor Adda gate on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border came under attack from the other side.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the gate was attacked using an RPG-7 (Rocket Propelled Grenade) and small armsfire from the Afghan side. However, it was not immediately clear who had mounted the attack.

“Pakistani troops responded and targeted positions from where fire was coming,” the military’s media wing said.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Interior Ministry spokesperson Seddiq Siddiqi told media in Kabul that the clashes occurred late Tuesday at Bermal border region of Paktika.

He alleged that Pakistani forces had been involved in “construction inside the Afghan territory.”

“Afghan border police intervened and exchanged fire. As a result, one Afghan border policeman was killed,” he claimed, adding that eight Pakistanis were also killed in the exchange of fire.

Construction inside another country's territory? Following your 'deeper than valley and higher than mountain" friends I see.
