not true, geely only owns 49% of proton, which means Malaysia still own proton majority stake at 51%. let me know if you need me to do the math for you

Congratulations to all Vietnamese friends here! This is indeed a great achievement. What was once condemned as an agrarian and backward country by the west has become a major regional growth engine. Industrialisation and modernisation are the key factors which will put Vietnam on the global map as an important global trade hub in the future.
I really hope that you guys go for electric vehicles from scratch rather than wait for Tesla to launch their vehicles.
Since you are starting your manufacturing and automotive industry afresh, EVs will make a lot of sense. Wishing Vietnam all the best for its manufacturing sector.

Malaysia had 2, actually. One is Proton, another is Perodua. Now going for third now. Can't say I agree with that.

Perodua—who make passenger cars, a segment with huge competition. Perodua gets by because they are basically rebadged and restyled Daihatsu designs. Perodua is same with the Thaco automobile brand of Vietnam.

About Proton, even the Malays are saying "Proton has turned out to be a money gobbler".

Still considered a national car, but the success comes from selling cheap mini cars. Perodua is short for 2nd manufacturer. Proton used to rebadge, not anymore. Same to said with Perodua, Bezza is no longer a rebadge. Perodua success is focus on affordability.

Gasoline is not the future. The future is going to be on electric vehicles, hydrogen-cell vehicles and other renewable energy vehicles. If Vietnam focuses on that, I am sure you guys can have a strong captive market audience lead.

asean car? seriously? another fantasie.here is reality,some pics of the $1.5 billion plant under construction as of July 2018.actually fast, kickoff was less than 1 year ago,yes car design comes from Pininfarina
