I have not observe significant logging in Vietnam.

Wood must have came from somewhere else. Look at Google Map you will know.

Nope it depends on what you mean by that. The soviets already had control of Afghanistan through their their proxy government in place. The best the Talibans/Mujahedeen could do was isolated guerrilla attacks. Just like they are doing today with afghan backed US government. So they could only carry out guerrilla attacks or hit and run. That's the most they could do and even to do that they need a sanctuary/bastion where they can procure ammunition from ,which in this case was Pakistan (which received huge amount of western arms and ammunitions). All the Talibans stinger which decimated Soviets aircrafts where supplied to them by western powers through Pakistan. Where else would they have acquired such weapons?
So the soviets did invade Afghanistan and installed a proxy government but due to western powers support for the Mujahedeen and supply for sophisticated weapons to them and sanctuary through Pakistan, it made it difficult for them to totally decimate them and control the country fully. In fact it was due to this that the soviets even threatened to invade Pakistan and eliminate this refuge area for the Mujahedeen, but they where warner by western powers especially the US from such a move .

It's same situation the US faced in Vietnam, had it not been for China(and soviets to some extent) providing full support, arms, training, refuge for the Vietcongs and warning US of not invading north Vietnam or threatening to intervene in case the US invaded the north close to their border then US would have a much easier time in Vietnam and they definitely wouldn't have left the country so prematurely. Note that the US never lost any battle during the entire vietnam war. The Vietcongs could only launch guerrilla attacks against US forces and seek refuge in the north. So it made it an unwinnable war for US forces and it's south vietnamese counter parts.

The thing is without a proper industrial base/manufacturing power, no country can keep at bay an industrialized powerful counterpart. The only way they can manage is by using guerrilla attacks ,hit and runs, and unconventional attacks. That's the only way they can survive. However the industrialized ones will still be controlling much of the country and state. It's similar situation for the many rebel/guerilla groups in India who have been fighting Indian government for decades . They can only limit themselves to hit and runs/guerrilla warfare and that's it.
Very true.
China explicitly draw the red line at North 17° in Vietnam, just like North 38° in Korea peninsula.

US did NOT cross North 17° on the ground, there were battle in the air of North Vietnam, between B-52, and Mig-17/21.

Without China backing, US already wiped out North Vietnam in the very beginning of the war.

That's why China taught Vietnam a lesson because Vietnam betrayed China after 1975.

As as China, China import log, export furniture. No wild forest logging allowed in China.

Experts pointed out that only Confucius civilization can challenge Western Civilization.
Confucius encourage people to Do more, learn more, make more good things for the life and Talk less. Thats why who learn and follow Confucius will have some advantage .

"Good man" should talk less but just do things

论语·学而
巧言令色,鲜矣仁

Most people who are good in talking are bad guys

Many members from backward countries obviously have bigotry and feudal mindset despite they seems to be highly educated. Many are too superstitious.

In a macro level, this is disastrous.
West is a very recent term and ideas. Previously West only include UK, France and Germany, maybe Italy.

Back to world 1&2, there is no common consensus where is west.

Personally, I disagree with the term West, it's a man made geopolitical term, not something true on the ground.

The origins of European countries definitely not the same, especially Slav, Finland, Hungarians.

Lool Are you joking/being sarcastic or you are serious? Pakistan defeating the Soviet Union? 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Dude stop with this joke. If it wasn't for western powers(and China) full support believe me the Soviet union would have not only invaded and conquered Afghanistan but also Pakistan.
Lmao.. This is very rich coming from the UK which is a vassal state of the US.
You Brits got some nerves... I will tell you that.

Your kind never fired a single bullet at a Soviet during the 8 year long war. Infact you never fired a single bullet at a Soviet EVER🤣 Even now you lack the balls to directly confront the Russians in Ukraine😂😂😂
Yet you dare speak about those who fought them. Do some research about the Soviet-Afghan war and the role the ISI and Pak military played. Your country in comparison did very little to nothing.

Pakistan is the only country other than your daddy US that has shot multiple russian fighter pilots in combat since World war 2.

"The most prominent among those shot down by PAF was Colonel Alexander Rutskoy who ejected over Pakistani soil and was captured by Pakistan. After his release, Rutskoy was decorated as a hero of the Soviet Union and went onto become vice president of Russia under Boris Yeltsin".

"By 1987, Soviets records indicate that Pakistani fighters had begun roaming into Afghan airspace—particularly harassing efforts to provide aerial resupply to besieged garrisons like Khost, only ten miles across the border. On March 30, 1987 two F-16s intercepted an An-26 twin-turboprop cargo plane near Khost, each striking it with one Sidewinder from just under a mile away. The ponderous cargo plane crashed into the snowy mountains below, killing all 39 aboard. Over the course of the conflict, Pakistani F-16 pilots also claimed the destruction of several Mi-8 transports helicopter, another An-26 on a reconnaissance mission in 1989, and a maneuver kill versus an An-24 transport which was actually attempting to defect..........On November 3, 1988 the PAF would bag its final jet kill when Lt. Khalid Mahmood shot down a DRAAF Su-2M4K. Pakistan formally credits its F-16 pilots with 10 kills during the conflict, while Soviet records confirm the loss of three Su-22s, an Su-25 and An-26. Some sources claim the PAF shot down at least a dozen more aircraft during the Soviet war in Afghanistan which ostensibly were not formally credited because they involved violations of Afghan airspace".

Your daddy US would not have been able to defeat Soviet Union had it not been for our support + KSA😉
