Before United States's pivotal to Asia, it didn't equate; but now many are forced to be in the middle line due to the US pivotal to Asia. They have to show no objections to Chinese land reclamation in SCS because this has become the choice of China or US. Pivotal to Asia polarizes SCS into a China or US problem for them. But they want to sit in the middle line and are forced to take no action. But this is the result China wants, not US wants.

First of all, Vietnam do have a muslim population (the Cham), they have been living in Vietnam before there was such a thing as your “PRC”.

Secondly, right now there is no problem between muslims and non-muslims in Vietnam. So I don’t know what you are trying to say, that Vietnam is somehow lucky thanks to Thailand and China “blocking” muslims from Vietnam.

There are also a muslim Cham population in Cambodia. Watch this youtube video interview with an old Cham muslim in Cambodia. What you are talking about, the attempt to “secularize” muslims, the muslim name/language policy your govt is putting on the Uighur, the “crackdown”, is similar to how this old Cham muslim described how the Pol Pot Khmer Rouge treated the muslim back in that period. That's because the population of Muslims is small. There is one very popular book about the behavior of Muslims based on population percentage in the West. I am not brainwashed as you. For each subject, I will read both Chinese copy and English copy. Chinese people viewed Vietnamese invasion as a way to unify IndoChina as French did. This was a geopolitical threat to China. China supported Khmer Rouge, together with United States. But China also supported the King Sihanouk and was the only country to accept his exile. This is how China makes Cambodia a good friend because China helped Cambodia independence by all means.

You need to learn more about the history. Then you will understand why in ASEAN, Cambodia is one of the best allies for China.
