Hey ! It should not be like my enemy's enemy is my friend. Vietnam need a helpful push in its modernization drive no doubt but we should not give offensive weapons that lightly. We should not harm our relations with China just for the sake of another relation. The thing is, we can start with the trining programmes and port building activities, after that we can go fr arms sales maybe some years down the line. Its not as if vietnam is facing an existential threat. They did just fine till now and will do for atleast a couple more years down the line as well...

This same 'chalta hay' attitude is what we have to change.Why should always India have to compromise or bow down.PRC has given armes to Pakistan in the past,continues to do so and will continue in the future.So when they don't have any concern about the bilateral relation then why should we have??And how in your logic the Brahmos became an offensive weapon??It's a defensive weapon from the start.
And by the way,Vietnam and India shares friendly relation from a very long time and not as 'enemy of my enemy is my friend' as you told-get that in your head.Both of our countries share a common threat so why shouldn't we help each other.The time and situation has presented India with a very unique and rape opertunity and we must act fast.The Iron is red hot;it's the time to hammer.If we don't then we will only prove our folly and cowardness.

With China is no friendship and ally, all they said just flip flop. As Vietnam as China friendship China still back stab on us, and I could not understand China supplied weapons for Polpot to genocide the own kind due to Maoism and made Cambodian all most extition in this World. Now China did almost a same thing with Pakistan, supplies most of the thing to gain India for China own goods. China never love Pakistan, China is worst more than US and at least US did not want lands and does not need to expansion but China does both.
