Video Gamers report in!

I god damn hated the pope....i assassinated him the first time i got a good assassin... That idiot would crusade me more than any Islamic nation..no matter which Christian nation i was playing....

For space 4x fans Distant Worlds:Legends is a stunning game.....

Yeah I did the same thing, I sent a high level assassin to kill the Pope. I was playing Venice and the Papal State being on the a Italian peninsula was in my way, after assassinating him I invaded Papal State and annexed the territory. I also broke my alliance with Holy Roman Empire and took Bologna.

If you play as Venice make strong ties with Milan because you can financially exploit Milan, but don't ever attack Milan because Milan is the goose that lays the golden egg. I would say I funded half of my military campaigns just by exploiting Milan by sending a high level diplomat and making deals with them for high amounts of money.

I actually had a pretty cool Byzantine Empire from the far reaches of Rome to the ends of Egypt....then Mongols said Hello , then, Black Death said Hello after that , and if that was not enough to ruin my day Timur the lane said Hello .....

Lets just say things went downhill after that ..... as Byzentines i,d juts send stack of 9-10 horse archers , Harass the enemy force and retreat ...defeated mongols like that after them being considerably weakened they decided to attack one of my cities.... ....Timur lane ..... that is one fucked up enemy...

If you play as Turks in Cruaaders edition, your capital is layed to siege by 4-5 full strength Mongol armies from the East. Knowing this I had Baghdad with my best troops. Three Mongol armies attack Baghdad most of their troops are cavalry. Best strategy is place your heavy infantry in guard mode at the gates I swear I killed Hulgau Khan and the other two Mongll Generals slowly and slowly there was a huge bottle neck created at the gates an my army did very well but after so much fighting I had probably inflicted a 1:4 kill to death ratio but even that wasn't enough because their numbers were so great.

Mongols I think are the toughest in that game, just avoid Mongols in open field but in cities it is easier to defeat them on the defense. Though I one time I crushed a Mongol Army at night in open field within in minutes the enemy was in retreat.

if you want to troll the mongols the best thing to do is place archer stakes in the gates..... i placed 2 of them at the gates...by god there were soo many dead horses there lol....but..that is too gamey...

I always upgrade my Citadels with heavy cannons and send my cavalry to destroy the seige weapons for the Mongols or Timur. Game over for Mongols or Timur.

I can easily defend my fort after that, those cavalry will come and become a sitting ducks in front of my Citadel .

I,ve played Force Unleashed... be glad you did not play it..its rather sad and pathetic... Empire war is nice..gives a bit back story between the events of episode 5 and Episode 6..

you have played Star wars : rebellion ??...wow..it was released in 1998....i still play it..such a gem of a strategy game..

Yup I've played Rebellion so many times & I still feel C3PO's voice ringing in my ears : The Empire is bombarding one of our systems !

Yaraa there was another Real Time Strategy game of Star Wars modeled around the Age of Empires III type interface; Star Wars the Clone Wars or Star Wars something !

Nice!!! All I inherited was a bunch of vinyl records and tapes.

Then again, nobody can complain about the Stones, Uriah and Lep Zep!!!

Amen to that. My curiosity with record players from watching Tom & Jerry use them led me to messing around with my Mom's old record player and discovering my Dad's record collection; enter Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep purple, Iron Maiden and Pink Floyd at the age of 14....Dad felt pretty proud but Mom wasn't ever ok with it ;)

Try playing with the Turks! Forget that you only get barely a turn or two without having a crusade called on you, the Mongols come marching right up your behind when you haven't even settled in the game. If for some miracle you manage to defeat them then the Temurids decide to use your regions for their slaughterfest.

I always upgrade my Citadels with heavy cannons and send my cavalry to destroy the seige weapons for the Mongols or Timur. Game over for Mongols or Timur.

Dude the elephant cavalry and elephant artillery of the Temurids devours any cavalry units one has.

@A1Kaid: Try this. Forget the walls and the gate, except for a unit of cavalry archers to man the cannon towers at the gate. Place all your units at the city center. Use appropriate infantry units to guard the street inlets and place 3-4 catapults and some archers behind them. Then watch the Mongols/Temurids come down the streets, get bottle-necked and then massacred by your catapults. Cannons and Trebuchets obviously don't work as well as catapults in this strat. And of course, maneuvering and separating the Mongol/Temurid armies one at a time on the strategy map and then picking them off with 2-3 of your's is still the best strat.

Normally when mongols/timurids come to attack a city they will come with trebuchets and cannons which will be placed in the middle of their line.

I will send two cavalary units (almost suicide) the goal of these units is to demolish the seige equipment even before the attack is started by the mpongols/timurids. At that instant the seige equipment is very vulnerable.

I have won lot of battle like that

Yes if we use a light cavalry as soon a the attack(while the units of enemy are moving towards our castle) starts we will only loose one or two units but their seige engines will be destroyed, Enemy cannot take out forts and at the same time we can also kill as much as many units as we can by luring them towards our fort cannons.
