with the help of Iranian specialists and maintenance crew Venezuelan C-130 heavy transport planes are flying again after 8 years. despite the fact that US should provide Venezuelan air force with spare part and expertise to support their US made cargo planes, unlawfully US puts sanctions on VEAF.
Iran has decades of experiences with large cargo planes from different countries. Iran currently operates a large fleet of C-130, IL-72 and AN-74 alongside with smaller planes and regularly overhauls them without foreign assists. this time Iran provided a friendly nation with it's services regarding maintaining and overhauling Venezuelan C-130 military cargo planes.
also in recent months due to US sanctions Venezuelan refineries were not able to satisfy domestic consumption of the country. in such dire times Iran provided them with gas loaded in five oil tankers and delivered them despite US threats.
overall it seems like Iran-Venezuela relationships is growing more warm due to US sanctions and promises a good future for both countries in term of mutual agreements and economic progresses.

Venezuela has 8 Y-8 transport plane. C-130 plane can fly or not is not significant but merely symbolic of defiance against US sanction.

Consider it a middle finger to US sanctions. Y-8 is cool, it can play the role of an AWACS too. Can you give me some info about its engines? Which company and how much power does it produce?

Y-8 developer :
Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation
wiki says its derived from Ukrainian An-12. Although An-12 is not being produced anymore, the Chinese version is being produced and upgraded in the early versions.

Its Powered by 4 WJ6 turboprop engines

@Beast handful of countries are using this transport plane.

The Y-9 version even have turboprop of 6 blade skew WJ-6II with power output that exceed Roll Royce AE2100 engine. But that version are all digitized and therefore expensive to acquire.

Is it same as WJ-6C engine or a newer version?
If its the same engine, i have bad news. China has replaced it with Canadian version of Partt&whitney engines for export purposes. China has gone a long way in engine development, we are not far behind. With MAPNA developing gas turbines and reliable engines, Iran is capable of producing transport planes. The problem is political will and money if i be honest to you. BTW, i wish both CHina and Iran succeed in countering American terrorists in west Asia and South CHina sea.

Y-9 is a military cargo plane, how can it get Canadian PW engine? US will sanction PW if they do that..
Max Payload is 25tons, higher than C-130J 22 tons payload.
