Recently USAF has decided to cut their annual flying hours by 18% which they say is equal to approximately 203,000 hours..
That means annual 100% flying hours will be.
(203000/18)X100 = 1127778 hours in an year..

So in any 24 hours they fly

1127778/365 = 3089 Hours

Since there are only 24 hours in a day

At any given time number of USAF planes in the air

3089/24 = 129

sir salute to your calculation..... but,
isn't the no of planes at exercises various campaigns and at routine training be more so your calculation is just a mean and there would be times when there would be no aircraft in the air and sometimes it would be way more, and not 129 aircraft are constantly on station patrolling 24/7 365 days a year.

.
Can't say that definitively...

The number of hours can increase and also the number of planes during an exercise, maybe they would have 300 planes up one day during an exercise. That would make up for a less busy day.

Then secondly, your calculation of 129 supposes that a plane in up 24 hours a day, which isn't possible. So fluctuation would be there...
@gambit could maybe shed some light on this, the Air Patrols going on, then the overseas deployment.

Yes that's why i said "At least"..
Or that should be the average number of Planes in the air during a whole year...

Not every USAF base is a flying base and not every flying base flies 24/7. However, even with reduced budget, training must continue and yes, some units will fly at night, some will fly in the morning, some will fly in the afternoon. Together, there is always some USAF flights going on...
