If a Turkish citizen would have been caught with that material, he would have been silently deported to Guantanamo.

I watched early in the morning in that TV as breaking News, they said he was observed by MIT he after entered Turkey and at last caught at KILIS.
I think it was a LEAK from Gendarmery. You know better than me, that our security Forces were very uneffectice and cautious connected with "foreign spies" in the Turkish South East and East. The spies, were most masked as adventure tourists, botanists and some like that earlier. Now MIT makes this Job and alerts local security.

Some more details:

It seems a leak from Gendarmerie. He was caught a week ago !

Imagine you will be caught with that gold and equipment in Europe. They will grant you one way ticket to Guanatanamo. In Iran they would execute you or hold as hostage to exchange !

ABD'li Persson ise sorgusunda tüm suçlamaları reddetti. "Babam ölünce yüklü bana miktarda miras kaldı. Onları satıp altın aldım. İslam'ı çok merak ediyordum. Öğrenmek için buraya geldim" dedi. ABD'li adam sorgusunun ardından sınır dışı edildi.
