US President Barack Obama is ready to visit Russia at invitation of Vladimir Putin. According to the press secretary of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, in a telephone conversation Obama reiterated willingness to travel to Russia "after the dates have been finalized through diplomatic channels."
Putin once again congratulated Obama on his re-election, wishing his American counterpart success in forming a new team.
"The presidents confirmed their mutual interest in progressive development of bilateral relations in all fields, including the economic component," said Peskov.
Elected president in 2008, on November 6 Obama was successfully re-elected for a new term in office.
Russia, US should develop ties, not just reset them - Medvedev
Russia and the United States must develop relations, rather than "reset" them once again, believes Russias Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
"If we talk about the "reset," it is sooner symbolic, he said in an interview with the Finnish media ahead of his visit to Finland.
The "reset" of relations between the US and Russia, which had soured under George W. Bush, began in 2009. However, the main stumbling block was deployment of U.S. missile defense in Europe.
Russian authorities intend to pursue this issue with the US administration, formed in the wake of presidential elections in the US, said Medvedev.
