US 'pleased' over PM Imran Khan's visit to Afghanistan

The US has expressed its pleasure over the recent visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan to Afghanistan where he held meetings with President Ashraf Ghani.

In a tweet, the US State Department's Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA) said it was pleased to see PM Khan visiting Kabul to underscore Pakistan’s commitment to peace and to further cooperation with Afghanistan on security, refugees, trade, and regional connectivity.
"Afghan-Pakistani cooperation contributes to the entire region’s stability," the US SCA tweeted.

On Thursday, the PM made his first visit to Afghanistan since assuming office in 2018. He was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Adviser for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood, and other senior officials.
During his visit, the PM met the Afghan president after which they jointly addressed the media. The PM vowed to do everything to help reduce violence and push for a ceasefire between the Taliban and Afghan forces.
"We assure you that we will do whatever is within our reach," the premier said.

Good to hear that Imran paid a visit to Afghanistan, nevertheless our US appeasement policy needs a rethink. For 72 years this policy has landed us in the abysmal state we are in currently.

US appeasement policy
There is no appeasement here. A stable Afghanistan is in our own interest. We cannot allow India to have a permanent foothold there and for that to happen we need a friendly and stable Afghanistan.

Whether US is pleased for real or not but someone in the neighborhood is going crazy over this and will loose apatite for many days. Having said that, a peaceful Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan which is the more of a worry for India while US supports the peace. India had the opportunity but Doval's doctrine lost it in short time given the predictable results of supporting proxies & ill games. Pakistan is finally liberating Afghanistan from games of these proxy lovers.

You are absolutely right, i was not talking about the PM visit. I meant about the great mess we had in Afghanistan since the late 70s, thanks to blindly following US agendas. US appeasement by Pakistan is a big painful subject, many volumes can be written on it.

Something that pleases the US can never bode well for Pakistan.
