Thats the local governments responsibility. They decide when to cancel events and schools. Did China shutdown the whole country or just some parts of the region or province? Because here nobody cancel events until early March to mid March. Was it a nationwide or just local? Most likely local because some events were going on while others were canceled.

China quarantined the whole country, every corner, every street , every building in China. Wuhan and Hubei were locked down, no one can go in and come out of Hubei and Wuhan for almost 3 months.

China didn't, you guys had been watching crisis drama unfolding in Wuhan with a cup of coffee for 3 months and didn't do even the slightest prevention or preparation. Your president even told the US public that it was no worse than a common cold.

I see people in the video going out to get their packages. Its not the same thing as a true quarantined, but I applaud their efforts in a nationwide lock down.

well ,let be honest . I'm not in china so I cant vouche for them but as for myself my field is emergency medicine and even when there was no crisis like this when the health ministery put unfair restriction on graduate of our field , when insurance companies discriminate us and made it nearly imposible for us to have our own practice and literally no one supported us , the only thing we did was write a complaint . we never allowed ourselves to even think about going on strike , even if we did that we easily could litterally shutdown Hospital systems here .
when here media here advertised the practice and income of around 50 famous doctors as the norm for all doctors while in reality many Family Medicine and General Practitioner income is less than nurses and made a negative environment to the extent that several Doctor get murdered we didn't considered Strike as an option . so if its true that your medical community went on strike there at the time like this , I just can say I cant relate to their values. they face the short coming we face here , we also lost many of our collegue but we still go to hospitals .

think he died not because he warned the world , he was part of the first group who was in contact with virus , sadly at the time we didn't knew te nature of the disease , we didn't knew how to protect ourself against it . so attributin his death to he was wanting to warn the official about the viruse and they didn't wanted to hear him is unfair.
