Ypg did the same with US support, what should have Turkey done, declare war on two superpowers?* Russia literally wiped out Turkish villages in Latakia and u watched still doing nothing. So spare us of ur arrogance.
* Afrin never had any ties with America let alone Israel.
Agreed on the first part but come on,you know very well that Afrin as part of the PYD/YPG/PKK territory is affiliated with at least the US.* Russia literally wiped out Turkish villages in Latakia and u watched still doing nothing. So spare us of ur arrogance.
* Afrin never had any ties with America let alone Israel.
USA couldn't care less.
Turkey will put FSA terrorists back in power. The offspring of Turkey and USA.
When the dust settles, Turkey, US and FSA will stay allies.
Doesn't matter to them if it's Kurds or FSA.
Before someone says SDF has terrorists, yeah sure, Turkey is keeping their own interests. Never said otherwise.
I know your point. I didn't refute it.SDF is just rebrand of PKK. It is perfectly valid for Turkey to classify SDF as a terrorist organization. The terrorist label on you doesn't fade away when you "rename" yourself and stop attacking Turkey with your newly branded organization.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2016_Istanbul_bombings
This happened in 11 December 2016 in Istanbul. 38 people died, 155 wounded. They were going home after watching a football match in Stadium. Two suicide bombers targeted the dispersing crowd.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_2016_Istanbul_bombing
This happened in 6 October 2016 in Istanbul. 10 people injured. A suicide bomber with a motorcycle was going to make a very bloody terror attack. Either the bomb detonated early, or he did a mistake, and the attack didn't go as he planned.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Kayseri_bombing
This happened in 6 October 2016 in Kayseri. Coordinated with the attack mentioned above. A suicide bomber targets fresh recruits (soldiers) in their bus, who are going to their assigned squad for their training. Technically they weren't even soldiers, because they weren't even started their training. That they would have been their first training day, if they weren't attacked. Killed 15 "soldiers", injured 55 people including many civilians. The bus that is attacked by the suicide bomber wasn't inside a military zone, it was in a public street, in front of many civilians. I am making these explanations, because some claim "PKK doesn't kill civilians anymore".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/June_2016_Istanbul_bombing
This happened in 7 June 2016 in Istanbul. 12 people were killed, of whom 6 of them were police and 6 were civilian. PKK attacks a police bus in Istanbul, in the morning rush hour, killing people who are trying to go to work. Of course, if you ask them, they were targeting the police in damn Vezneciler district which is crowded with people. I guess the civilians that died were "acceptable casualties", according to their twisted mind.
Let me go sometime back.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_Istanbul_bombing
This happened in 31 October 2010 in Istanbul. 37 people injured. A suicide bomber tried to make an attack in Taksim Square. A police officer notices something strange about him and shouts at him. He panics and detonates early. Preventing another massacre.
The following one is a little further back. I will put this here because this one had some sentimental value to me. The place that the attack took place was approximately 50 meters away from my home. I was never that close to a terror attack before. Spoilers, it smells burnt human flesh in the air for around a day.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_Market_massacre
This happened in 13 March 1999 in Istanbul. 13 people were BURNT ALIVE inside a mall with fire that was created by Molotov cocktails. 5 people were injured. All of them were civilians, who happened to be the employees of the mall, or the people who happened to be shopping in the mall.
When you say "of course Turkey says SDF is a terrorist organization" in a tongue in cheek fashion, it literally boils my blood. WTF interest can Turkey have in Afrin? Are there any natural resources that we can tap in? Can't you see what the hell is going on here? We are constantly pulled into a new kind of quagmire by this damn parasites. Jeopardizing out international image, our economic development, our means of living. For what? Do you think in a parallel universe in which there was no PKK, would Turkey enter Afrin? For what reason? That place is a damn mountain, with damn goats and damn villagers. There is nothing else in there, nothing interesting. Except for the damn animals who are killing our people, CIVILIAN PEOPLE, for decades now. You say Turkey's interest, as if we are invading Basra (oil rich), for some made up reasons like weapons of mass destruction.
Turkey is in there for one reason. Clean up PKK. Bring God damn Barzani and he forms a Kurdish canton. It is somewhat acceptable. But what is not acceptable is PKK, or anything that is associated with it, forming some kind of state structure. I'm the most opposing person to Erdogan, AKP or political Islam, or even conservatism in general that you can meet. But if it comes to that, I can personally go there and fight this war. This is much more than Erdogan. But you people don't get the seriousness of this.
Despite the headline, the author understands that the U.S. can NOT be accused of "betraying" the cause of independence for the Kurds because the U.S. never supported independence for the Kurds....The Kurds of Iraq and Syria should be allowed to hold free, democratic referendums and if the results will be a vote for complete independence, then so be it. Iran should stop its repression of 6 million Kurds, and the Kurdish issue should become part of the agenda in any discussion about violation of human rights in the Islamic Republic. The U.S. should be helpful in attaining all these goals. The Kurds should not be treated only as the brave allies to be thrown to the battle against ISIS, but also as the political allies, whose national demands should be part of any fundamental solution to the problems of Iraq and Syria...
