Like all, limited by operational parameters. As such the US air defence systems do lag behind in many parameters to Russian AD(because they focused more on it).

The US manpads are pretty comparable to Russian systems and in some cases better.
The PAC 3 is close to performance to the S-300 at least in interception.

But the question is on what the Saudis had in theater and what was looking out that night.
It is very possible that low level UaVs and cruise systems could penetrate the AD system the Saudis have operational there. But not from Yemen, not when going over the AD systems of multiple well armed GCC countries who could have easily warned them.

Something isn’t right, and it looks like Europe isn’t buying it either as certain parties would hope.

This whole episode looks like a very C grade action movie plot to create an impression of Iran attacking KSA and invoking a response from KSA, Trump and world at large. But like every other thing by Trump administration aka posse of morons, they exposed shortcomings of their own systems and defences.

the US not only has the Patriots Batteries Radar. but also the advance AN/TPY-1 X band Radars located in Qatar, Turkey & Israel. they would have detected a missile barrage. they cover a area from Tunis to Pakistan (West to east), & from southern Russia to Sudan (North to South).

not to mention this is all linked into CENTCOM command. which is Sync with Israel, Qatar, Bahrain Kuwait, & KSA military commands and Air Defense.

it not likely iran fired multiple cruise missiles and no one detected it.

Patriot is a long range system and not a point defence system. Isn't a possibility that cruise missile and drones flew below the detection range of Patriot. Patriot is more famous for defending against aircrafts (bigger targets) and ballistic projectiles.
