it's rather foolish to think that counter-terrorism is something that is successful overnight....the Americans/NATO claim to have invaded Afghanistan in 2001 on the grounds of counter terrorism. To an extent, the coalition effort succeeded (if John McCain's words as well as suggestions by U.S. operations data are to be believed) vis-a-vis al qaeda.
the main issue has been to ensure that TTP, al qaeda and like-minded groups have no breathing room....they are more of a threat to Pakistan than anyone else - india included
quite frankly - any suggestion that al qaeda even had anything to do with 26/11 drama is beyond absurd -- and a white-wash. if anything, what indians should really be fixated on is why the government in india allowed it to drag on for so long...surely they werent as incompetent as outsiders would think to stop a few unruly kids with small arms
curiously - the Americans denied india unfettered access to David Headley, who was an informant for the US DEA even while he allegedly was scouting out targets in the heart of hindustan's financial capital --and that too despite desperate pleas from new delhi
