US deploys 1200 soldiers as cross-border Taliban support gains momentum

umm Afghanistan is heavily dependent on the US , the taliban are scums not defenders of their land!
Haqqani network is definately terrorist but in southren Afghanistan not every taliban fighter is driven by ideology. Some of them see Americans as aggressors who have bombed their villages, have insulted their honor through search operations etc
Their was documentry about american operation in helmand. American soldiers were going into one village after another and every where they were welcomed with AK47and IEDs....They were doing searches of houses and there were no young men in the houses ! Just women, kids and old men. At every small resistance americans requested for air strikes on pockets of resistance with AK47. Americans were clearly frustrated that locals are hostile to them.
ANA is also not welcomed in pashtun majority south. There was a documentry about parwan, a north-eastren province. Afghan soldiers, tajiks, enter into house of pashtun for search. There is 3 year old pashtun kid , one of the tajik soldier wave his hand at the face of kid and says "hello terrorist". Then he says to the camera " all these pashtuns are barbarians, this kid would definately grow into a taliban. We have instructions otherwise i would have dealt in other way"
In the same documentry the westren reporter interviews a taliban spokeperson of parwan in the mountains. At one point he says that french troops had the decency of not bombing houses if it had women and children, but ANA have killed lot of civilians by indescriminate shelling on pashtun villages.
There are always two sides of story.

They aren't the "Taliban" but rather the Nationalists much like the Mahsuds in the 90s

May the afghan army mature and scale up faster to finally deal a death knell for these swines

Want to elaborate. Maybe you can explain to us how a bunch of AK 47 welding terrorists, didn't get completely wiped out by the most powerful military alliance in the world. Lead by the biggest military spender in the world.

Hostile terrain for one. Anytime the battle goes 7000 ft and above and the borders are not sealed---when the terrain is extremely hostile---when for the enemy death is just a game---when your enemy just thrives to fight just for the sake of fight---there is no victory in there for you.
