That would only reduce the standard of living for white americans, substantially, which would result in a revolution overthrowing the wall street regime. the US military dissolves and the UN moves in to regovern the areas of the US until they are ready for independence as INDEPENDENT STATES like they should be instead of being oppressed by the parasitic federal-wall street government.

Too many people here in the U.S. are under the illusion that by simply halt imports from China we could bring down the tyrannical CCP as well as creating a plethora of new American jobs.

What they don't know is that most of the goods imported from China are actually made by American companies. The competitiveness of those companies will go to the toilet once they are resorted to paying people 50 grand a year to assemble Iphones .

Also they fail to realize that instead of rising up against their government, millions of pissed off Chinese workers may want to direct their anger at the ones who sanctioned them in the first place. "China threat" may become a valid theory at last when that happens.

Two things you can do--


The U.S. should actually start manufacturing locally from a pin to cars. The U.S. needs strong protectionist measures in order to erase the debt completely. Increase the wages of workers so they can afford local products.

This is the only way the U.S. can create the 'lost' jobs--

CHINA:

China should empower her citizens economically and socially. This way, 1 billion Chinese will fill the 'foreign' gap--Increase the minimum wages so people can contribute to the economy. China does not need to rely on foreign countries because they have enough population to turn the wheel of economy.

Man this Obama dude is a liar big time...just yesterday he was reassuring Chinese about trade security today it has launched trade war..why dont they understand the fundamental cause of Chinese economic might and tell their nation to accecpt sensible wages for work and producing made in America. If America is failure to produce products which can cater to Chinese people needs its Americas fault.

What obama is trying to do it..in classic uncle sam style is hold a gun to customer head and say "hey we make these crappy gas guzzling SUV's and I want you to buy one"! The americans have self imposed bans against all possible products of Chinese intrest. What obama can do to create more jobs, expand trade and reduce deficit is open up more products for export to China. Im talking about Aircrafts, ship building tech, heavy machinery, avionics, aircraft engines, satellites, aerospace tech and misc defence releated toys. Yes they consider China a threat to they dont have to start selling them F16 and F22 however there still is a large arms market awaiting american contractors. American defence export policy appears stupid at best. Its ignoring the best possible market and instead persuing a much smaller Indian market.

One one hand Obama wants chinese to continue buying their debt bonds and on other side they want Yuan to be re-evaluated.

You are mistaken, Obama has very little power over domestic affairs compared to foreign affairs.

If the house and senate passes it, all he can do is veto it giving a reason why, an impossibility in this election year.

Even then if most of the congress votes to pass it, its out of his hands.

Exactly, the hard-liners in the Chinese government would love for America to take such actions against China, it gives them someone to blame.

In Iran for example, they always blame their domestic problems on US sanctions. Why would they need to fix their country, when they can blame all their problems on someone else? What a convenient scapegoat.

The US government realises that there are two camps in the Chinese government, and that by pushing China, they are empowering the hard-liner camp. They are willing to take that risk, because of a bad domestic situation with regards to unemployment etc., and with respect to the upcoming elections. Any action that is perceived to be creating jobs in America will give them political capital.

Timothy Geithner (the US Secretary of Treasury) studied at Peking University, and Beijing Normal University. He can also speak Mandarin.

I wonder if that is one of the reasons that he refuses to take a hard stance on China regarding currency issues...

Your post does not contribute anything positive. My house is only getting products made in China; thus, my house can only have architectures, engineers etc--the manufacturing jobs are lost--THE U.S. NEEDS TO TAKE strong protectionist measures in order to BIRNG BACK THE LOST JOBS OUR GRAND FATHERS HAD. We need to bring back all the industry from China, India etc so OUR PEOPLE CAN GET HOSE JOBS.
