Please update the banned topics list to include any topics related to Sri lanka and genocide.

I incorporate the following argument in support of my inclusion.

The topic is pointless, and known to create flame wars between two sides of vastly different views.

I find this is similar to we will obliterate the other side type topics.

Both sides have vastly different views, and there is very little chance for either side to agree on a common ground to produce healthy discussion.

If the BD genocide is not banned why should any other ?

Discussion always helps to clear things and put them in perspective.

BD genocide isn't a hot topic. It can generate healthy discussion.

topics related to the holocaust can generate healthy discussion because a significant amount of time has lapsed.

Sri lanka and genocide issue is fairly new, and any discussion on topics related to Sri lanka and genocide will only result in flame warring.

How do you say the BD genocide is not a hot topic ? Ask the BD posters here. In BD they have just hung the first man for war crimes that happened in 71.

The vintage of a genocide ought not to determine its relevance.

The partition happened 67 years ago yet creates a lot of heart burn even now.

Once again - discussion helps, putting things in a closet does not.

So it should be banned because it's 'new'?!

If you see flamewars, report the firestarters and move on.

This is a stupid move. Discussion should be allowed. Actually the discussion and debate enables many truths that doesnt appear in media come out. Also i dont think any of us should decide what is banned in PDF and what is not.

its all seems only logical and fair when the discussion is "strictly" Pakistan. but if the same rule is applied to Indian "recent" and the "past" then even the very normal and respected Indians go on a troll suicide hyperdrive from total denial to outright abusive.

this is why I just bitterly smile when I see such "advice".

You are entitled to your thinking & I to mine.

agreed
indeed we all are and in the spirit of a "healthy and fair debate" the specter of light should not be shoved up the nose of only one side. and if someone wants to give 5 times the advice then should be willing to take at least one back too

Which part of my posts if any gave the impression that discussion is not recommended.

The subject here is SL. The BD genocide was cited as an example which seems to have touched a raw nerve.

give one example please. Which topics Indians wanted to be banned but it did not make sense to ban them.

. .
Crimes against women the biggest of which is rape

I wanted rape topics to be back in banned list because people seem to get pleasure out of posting such threads. Besides there are 18k known rape cases per year in India (5k in pakistan), if we post each rape news, this will be a rape forum.

I understand cases like delhi or those involving foreign tourists are important but why the rest of it?
some newspaper in India have a page dedicated to local crimes (rape , murder, looting, killing) etc, I dont think they should end up here.

BTW rape happens in pakistan too and possibly with as much regularity. Just that in India suddenly its a hot topic which is why every case is being reported prominently on first page (since delhi case). Its not like suddenly Indian men caught rape virus after 2012.

We can even have a sticky for rape related news and those who like to post and read them can do so.
