Up to 27 Hindus 'converted to Christianity' by missionaries in Kushinagar

I had 2 instances - personal ones in Odisha, near Sambalpur. The Church has an extensive network of slaves there. The tribals are converted, instructed to break their idols and send their kids to convents in the same area. These are called Educational Missions. Then these folks are routinely 'employed' by the Church sponsored 'self help' groups on forestry related businesses - starting from poaching to illegal felling of trees for wood - you name it.

Payment is usually some minimal food(nutrition standards have not improved one bit in the areas inspite of strong missionary presence). The folks can't leave because their kids are 'protected' inside Educational Missions. Some touts among the tribals also act like Kapos and keep the rest in line, in return for better treatment.

When a new district magistrate tries to build a new road (that would bring the local administration to the area) the missionaries do their best to prevent it. The illegal business gets a hit, even in the worst case, they are forced to provide a cut to the sarkari babus. In the best case scenario(for India) they are arrested. The latter is very very very rare. Usually, the magistrate is killed, the roads mined, the collector's office blown up. The blame is pinned on the 'Maoists'.

The men in clean white robes continue to rule.

The other incident was in Chattisgarh, about 180km from Raipur during a relief work. Since the only hospital in the area was a Christian hospital, we had to keep our stocks there. There we were witness to the most disgusting forms of prejudice. Christian patients were given the best of treatment, that was expected. But the Hindu/Animist patients were openly given a choice to convert, otherwise pay a much higher amount for life saving drugs! This blackmail we had to endure for a week. When we protested the treatment, we were curtly told to lodge a complaint. This man was a 'Father' a 'respectable holy man'. We left the area after another day.

This issue is having many aspects not only political but even social and religious.

I am seeing its in other way , BJP is trying to secure all the Hindu votes. Hindu organizations biggest challenge would be to finish off the caste issues.
Caste System is a liability for Hinduism and a powerful weapon for Evangelicals. I hope it gets destroyed, else it will eliminate all that we hold dear.

Caste System is being misused but one should not forget that backward classes social status have increased and even the same has been with SC/ST up to some extent. Reservations should be placed like that only.

Evangelicals, Catholics etc are having different agenda which is mainly to get business relations with India.

Which seculars converted said Christians?

Seculars only shout about those who return to their faith after being cheated on not being given money for converting.. Look at the noise made in media about the 27 families that chose to go back to their roots. But no chest thumping secular says anything about the havoc church and mullahs play in different parts of India.

Secularism means using civil laws to equally judge everyone in an unbiased way; not suck up to selected communities for some benefits .

Sorry. This is wrong. After they became Hindus, the cards were provided ONLY because they changed their names. The new cards had to reflect the changes. They got no monetary rewards.

Religious conversion should be banned: Sushil Modi | Zee News
December 16, 2014

Patna: Amid tension in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh over scheduled 'reconversion' programme by Hindu right outfit Dharma Jagaran Samiti, senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday said forced conversion should be banned in the country.

"We want religious conversion, especially forced religious conversion, to be banned in the country. The issue should be debated at a meeting of all parties and if everybody agrees, forced conversion should be banned," Modi told reporters here.

"There are instances of forced religious conversion in Bihar too and such practices should be stopped," he said.

VHP puts ‘ghar wapasi’ on hold - The Times of India
VARANASI/KUSHINAGAR: Hinting that its 'ghar wapasi' campaign will be put on the backburner till the end of the winter session of Parliament, the saffron brigade now plans to focus on creating the right atmosphere to achieve its target of 'converting' 10,000 people in east UP during events being organized as a part of Vishwa Hindu Parishad's golden jubilee year celebrations.

While VHP's Kashi Pranth unit's organizing secretary Manoj Srivastava refused to talk about the matter, sources in the saffron brigade said in view of the opposition's protests in Parliament, the top leadership wants to keep the campaign in a pause mode till the session ends.

But the tightening of noose on the saffron brigade's local units by the district administration and police in Ghazipur district has also compelled organizations such as the VHP and Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV) to retreat for now.

Ghazipur district magistrate Narendra Singh Patel told TOI that functionaries of both the organizations were called at Sadar Kotwali police station on Monday and told to give details of their proposed programmes on December 17 and 18. The two organizations gave it in writing that 'ghar wapasi' was not the part of their events. After getting this declaration, the district administration and police allowed them to hold their meetings.

"We have taken a declaration from both organizations, but extra precautions like videography of their meeting would be initiated," Patel said. "Apart from regular staff of intelligence wings, revenue department employees are also being engaged for intelligence collection by keeping a sharp vigil in the areas concerned."

Ruling party has done the right thing now , BJP should work to bring the legislation.

Was this before or after they were intimidated into becoming Hindus and was it before or after they offered namaz once the goons left?

As many as 27 Hindus from five families in Kushinagar reportedly converted to Christianity on Saturday.
The incident follows the reconversion of some Muslims to Hinduism in ‘ghar wapasi’ events organised by a right-wing organisation in Agra.
The ‘converted’ villagers in Kushinagar were reportedly in touch with some Christian missionaries from Bihar.

Christian mission: A church, still being built, in Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar district. Around 27 people of Gangua-Mathia village in the district were found worshipping Jesus Christ in a house
According to the village headman, a villager called Dilip Gupta motivated others to convert to Christianity.
The Kushinagar incident came to light on Sunday when 27 people from Gangua-Mathia village were found worshipping Jesus Christ in a house.
The locality is about 50km from Gorakshnath Mutt where Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Gorakhpur, Yogi Adityanath, is a mahant.
The area is Adityanath’s stronghold. Not surprisingly, on Sunday evening about a dozen supporters of Adityanath rushed to the village after learning of the conversion.

Adityanath had recently said events have been planned for December 25 in Aligarh, during which Muslims and Christians will be re-converted as Hindus.
According to a villager in Kushinagar, Christian missionaries from Betiah and Narkatiyaganj in Bihar used to visit the house of villager Dilip Gupta.
“Earlier, only Dilip used to attend their functions in Betiah and Narkatiyaganj. We knew that he was attracted to Christianity. But recently more villagers started going to Bihar along with Dilip to meet the missionaries,” a woman from the village told Mail Today.
“They would stay away from the village for many days. We saw them on Saturday performing some rituals in presence of a missionary. But we didn't know what exactly they were doing.
"On Sunday, we heard them singing a song in Dilip’s house. When we went there, we saw a Bible in their hand and a small statue of Jesus Christ in front of them,” she added.
Those with Dilip in the house included Prabhu Prajapati, Kishan Gupta, Malti Gupta and Ramawati Gupta.
On Sunday night members of Adityanath’s Hindu Yuva Vahini visited the village and looked for the ‘converted’ people, she said.
Sub-divisional magistrate Sri Prakash Shukla, who rushed to the village, said: “We have received complaints of religious conversion in the village. The matter is under probe.”
However, Kushinagar district magistrate Lokesh M. said: “They were converted to Christianity in Mumbai last year. It is not a new incident.”
Village headman Ajay Kharwar said: “Dilip used to live in Mumbai till last year. He was in touch with some missionaries. But it appears that he recently motivated four families and they all got converted to Christianity.
"I came to know about it on Sunday when they were performing some rituals, and informed the administration about it. Due to tension in the village on Sunday, they escaped from their houses in the night.”

Looks like this Mr. Dilip Gupta's (an Indian himself) personal conversion was what influenced the rest to convert, I do not see any missionary activity in this case. Nor do I see any forceful conversion or any monetary reason for conversion. Heck you might have just found the one article that does not support your point of view and posted it anyway LOL.

well TTD conducts many programmes in minority areas.. none of Christians oppose any thing... Christians feel proud of Christianity like Hindus feel on Hinduism. . forcing them to convert is definitely crime. .. who is opposing if you wanna motivate Christians... ehm
How about offering "prize" for motivation?

Even Catholics are involved in such things in South India.

Yeah agreed...but still it is the Pentecostal bastards who are still continuing this trend...Yesterday I heard a news from my friend if a family conerts to Pentecostalism they give two lakh rupees....

Pentecostalists are pimps who offer their religion for sale....

They will return home and the so called church being built will be used as a community hall.
on a serious note hinduism decrasing from 85% in 1951 to 80% in 2001.Islam increased from 9 % to 14% in 2001 and christianity increased from 2 % to 3 % betwwen 1951 to 2001.Hindus have to be united and start a boxer rebellion like china and we have to disintegrate casteism from our religion, which is the main cause of conversion.
