UP polls: Owaisi announces alliance, proposes 2 CMs, 3 deputy CMs

Upon being questioned whether this an alliance formed out of compulsion, Babu Singh Kushwaha said that it is not of compulsion.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday launched a new pre-poll front, 'Bhagidari Parivartan Morcha', promising two chief ministers for Uttar Pradesh, if the new front is voted to power.

While launching the new outfit, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief also promised three deputy chief ministers for the state, saying his new front will fight the UP Assembly polls on all its 403 seats.

Out of the two CMs, one will belong to the backward classes and the other to the Dalit community, he said, adding the state will also have three Dy CMs, with one belonging to the Muslim community.

"If voted to power, the Morcha will give two chief ministers to the state. Of this one will be from the OBC community, while the other will be from the Dalit community. Apart from this, three deputy chief ministers will be made, of which one will be Muslim," Owaisi said.

Owaisi did not explain under what provision of the Constitution the state will have two CMs.

Owaisi launched the new front jointly with little-known political outfit Jan Adhikaar Party of former Uttar Pradesh minister Babu Singh Kushwaha and an all-India body of government employees of the backward, Dalits and minority community, founded by Kanshi Ram in 1970s.

The AIMIM chief announced the launch while addressing a press conference along with Kushwaha and current chairperson Waman Meshram of the all-India Backward and Minority Community Employees Federation (BAMCEF).

Former UP minister Kushwaha was made the convenor of the new front.

"The doors of the Morcha are open for other political parties," said Kushwaha.

He also claimed that the UP assembly poll battle which is being perceived to be between the BJP and SP, is now between the Morcha and the BJP.

I don't get why there is so much hatred for Owaisi. What do you need Owaisi to do or what would you have done if you were in his place, pick up weapons and start an armed freedom movement right in the midst of hundreds of millions of haters?

• There would not be few, but tens of millions of extremists in India who'd love nothing more than for Owaisi to die so kudos for sharing something with RSS in hating a really popular and vocal Muslim leader.
• You do know a Muslim former member of Lok Sabha was cut up in pieces and burnt in 2002 Gujarat massacre so there is precedence of death for Muslim leaders when standing up to extremist right wing Hindu groups and yet you see Owaisi and his brother being vocal. How is he not considered at par with the Muslim leaders standing up to the tyrannical ME regimes or standing up to Israel in Palestine!
• Owaisi has had the same accident of birth as our forefathers who lived as minority without being able to express themselves freely and this was the very reason they sought freedom. Not all our forefathers were freedom fighters up in arms so stop with the rhetoric and cowardice medals. Heck even our religious parties were against the Pakistan which they thought was an idea of the elite Muslim Nawabs who wanted another piece of land to rule.
• Owaisi is a Barrister from Lincoln's Inn just like Quaid e Azam and is trying to unite Muslims and giving them a voice under a peaceful movement not much different from Quaid's own movement. Have you not reaped benefits of Quaid's peaceful struggle?
• I hate putting it like this, but have you never read, enemy of an enemy can be a friend.
• Has Owaisi and larger Muslim minority not borne the brunt of bigotry in India much like Pakistani Hindus and Ahmadiyya sometimes suffer unfortunately without being at fault? Is it the fault of Indian born Muslims that they're neighbors of Pakistan that is in a perpetual war with India since its inception. Whomever the source of the conflict, Muslims of India have always received backlash so it is totally understandable if they have no love lost for Pakistan.

If Owaisi was born as you in Pakistan and you were born in the Owaisi household that has struggled for generations to give Indian Muslims a voice, wouldn't you have just loved the good wishes of being lynched from a nobody in Pakistan who was born with the privilege of freedom that you were struggling for.

UP would be the 5th most populous country in the world if it were a nation. It suffers from severe lack of administration. Ideally it should be divided into 4 zones for efficient administration, ie. 4 CMs.
