Martin Jetpack - Martin jetpack might take to the skies soon

martin-jetpack.jpg

The commercially developed Martin jetpack could see action pretty soon, where it you can choose from two different models. The first would be a regular jetpack that carries one person within confines of its 8000 feet ceiling as well as maximum 31.5 miles of traveled distance at 63mph will take you. A full tank of gas lasts around half an hour, so we do hope that future manufacturing process will be improved for increased efficiency. As for the other unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) model, it will be sleeker compared to the human-friendly counterpart, with trials expected to begin from next year onwards. Could we see a Jackass-style sport of Angry Humans (a variation of Angry Birds) in real life with the Martin jetpack?

AVENTURA, FL--(Marketwire - November 16, 2010) - Sanswire Corp. (OTCBB: SNSR), a developer of lighter-than-air unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and related technologies today announced that Time Magazine has named the STS-111 UAV as one of "The 50 Best Inventions of 2010." The November edition of Time Magazine featuring the story "The 50 Best Inventions of 2010" is currently available on newsstands.

Sanswire has partnered with TAO Technologies on the initial technology for the STS-111 UAV. The Company is currently working with several partners at our hangar in Easton, Maryland to add a series of enhancements and systems integration to the STS-111 for planned flight demonstrations. The STS-111 airship has a lightweight, aerodynamic, envelope structure measuring 111 feet in length and 11 feet in height and is based on a patented multi-segmented, non-rigid design. This design is extremely flexible and is meant to enable the airship to deal with winds and weather encountered during flight. The STS-111 is designed to fulfill a range of desired mission profiles at altitudes up to 15,000 feet. Depending on weather conditions, the STS-111 airship is designed to perform persistent loitering or racetrack operations nonstop for an estimated two and a half days carrying a payload of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaisance or communications equipment providing up to a 120 mile operational line of sight. The STS-111 has been designed to rapidly unfold from its standard-size crate and be launched from virtually anywhere with no need for a large hangar or an exposed mooring platform.

"We are extremely honored to be included in TIME's The 50 Best Inventions of 2010," says Glenn Estrella, President and CEO of Sanswire. "TIME is one of the world's most prestigious magazines and to be included as one of their best inventions of the year is a testament to our unique technology, hard work, and team, including our committed technical partners."

"I am proud that the STS-111 airship which resulted from TAO's partnership with Sanswire has been recognized in such a world renowned publication as Time," added Professor Dr. Bernd Kroeplin, Chairman of TAO Technologies GmbH.

Previous Time Best Inventions have included the iPhone (2007), Youtube.com (2006), and NASA's Mars Exploration Rovers (2002).
