To make things worse, her campaign was full of mistakes, especially on the Tory Manifesto regarding the 'dementia tax' issue and free lunch for school students. That was a huge blunder, I wonder why her adviser which she relies on so much advised her to go for such a policy without consulting other members of the party(who were obviously against after it was published). This is where they "lost"(well, they still won more seats than the next top 3 parties combined) the election. Prior to this faux pas on the Manifesto, they were leading by almost double digits points against Labour . I believe it was a self inflicted defeat. They have only themselves to blame.
One thing that most right-wingers (and some left-wingers) never learn is that economically conservative policies that harm the middle and working classes are rarely popular and end up costing parties votes in the election.
People also forget that the biggest losers here is the SNP. They fucking lost a whooping 1/3rd of their Seats, with most of them going to the conservatives followed by labour. .
So much for Nicola Sturgeon independence referendum.
A huge loss for the SNP indeed. Instead of asking for more referendums, they should focus on running on Scotland. A referendum for full independence was held, and they lost.
Even Alex Salmond lost his seat. If that isn't a message to the SNP, I don't know what is....
