Discussions between France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the sale of two Gowind corvettes are progressing well. Abu Dhabi would like to purchase two Naval Group anti-submarine warfare corvettes (2,400 tonnes). Emmanuel Macron is going there on November 8th for the inauguration of Louvre Abu Dhabi.

Talks between France and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the sale of two corvettes Gowind advance well, says one to the Tribune. It seems that Naval Group would hold the rope against three of its most dangerous competitors, the French CMN, the Dutch Damen, and the Italian Fincantieri. Abu Dhabi would like to purchase two 2,400-ton anti-submarine warfare corvettes (1 firm + 1 optional). Which would be very good news for Naval Group, which could give the load to the site of Lorient by manufacturing both Gowind in France.

On the other hand, the UAE would have selected Thales Nederland's combat management system (CMS), the Tacticos (to the detriment of the Naval Group, the Setis) to integrate the American missile Evolved Seasparrow Missile (ESSM) Raytheon into arming the corvettes. The European missile MBDA seems to have lost the battle of Abu Dhabi. To win this tender, Naval Group has however made a nice financial offer to the UAE, says one in La Tribune. A contract that would bring him around 400 million euros, according to our information.

@The SC Macron has just announced that the UAE will buy two Gowinds from Naval Group. :victory:
There is this good news too..it came just after the visit of the French defence minister to the UAE!!!

Approval of a new budget for the Rafal F4 program

The new budget is about 900 million euros

Rafale F4:

The UAE wants 60 Rafale _UAE Special Edition_ looks a lot like the coming upgrades..that will only be available in 2025!

While the additional Rafale contracts between Egypt and France are still in the negotiating stage, but it is likely that the two parties will eventually find an agreement on the additional 24 Rafale because the desire to sign exists between the two parties..

Mabrouk ya 3amo! Very interesting that they selected Tacticos CMS specifically to integrate the Seasparrow on those Gowinds instead of going all French with MBDA MICA. They must either view the Seasparrow as better or there's some other reason.

Already operational on the Baynunnah Class, plus without going into too much details, the VL MICA has a range of 20km, whereas ESSM is 50+. Besides the range, ESSM's capabilities are also more, as you can see from the links below.

Raytheon received a contract from Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) in October 2004 to deliver MK56 ESSM vertical launching systems (VLS) for four Baynunah class corvettes of the UAE Navy.

Raytheon also has a strong interest in the Baynunah corvettes, supplying supplies the Rolling Airframe Missile and Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile launchers. The company also just announced a deal to sell RAM Block II missiles to the UAE.

Awesome. Those are gonna be some sweet ships. And those Baynunnah Class are like mini-corvettes they look very cool.

Yes 2 plus an option for another 2..all will be made in the UAE with ToT..apart from the US systems

The Gowind® 2500’s low acoustic signature and radar cross section avoid easy detection by hostile platforms, making the corvette stealthier than other vessels in its class."

For the CAPTAS-4, Thales CAPTAS-4 Compact is presented in a size and weight that makes its presence on the Gowind-2500 possible.

Not the same category or tonnage..
Not the same category, or tonnage, but a comparison can be done, capability wise.

Baynunah Class, Gowind 2500 Egyptian Navy, and Gowind 2500 UAE Navy, are three different specs.
