Hmmm, well i dont agree with you in this, i think this has less with racism to do than with geopolitic interests, Turkey has almost the same population as Germany and might soon surpass it meaning in case of a Membership it would hold the most seats in Parliament. Lets say Turkey finds a partner like Spain or Italy it could effectively rule EU policies against Germany-France axis which is the reason why they only let small insignifican countries in.
They wont let Russian in either even if it was perfectly democratic, rich and despite being white christian, though i have to agree Turkey being muslim is a bonus reason not to let in.
