A white UCLA student records a video criticizing asians about talking on their cell phones and having their families visiting them. She even says she's annoyed by people who are calling their relatives in Japan to see if they're ok after the Tsunami.

I didn't find it offensive or Racist.. This is simple cultural difference and yes this happens.. she is having a problem then she has done it in nice way..putting in Youtube and requested.. How come this become hatred or offensive?

Ever since California outlawed affirmative action in 1996 There are more Asians at the UCLA and UC Berk than there are white people. I believe the percentage of Asians is more than 40% Cause everyone knows that Asian, especially east asians, are smarter and work harder.

I beg to differ here.. I found we Asians, especially Students or young professionals (irrespective of Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis etc) have always tendency of behaving different in our groups and then we forget about decorum which needs to be maintained...
I remember during my stay 2 times Police has come up to our home and and 3 times to my Chinese neighbours as during weekends we were loud enough to disturb.. The motto of video is plain enough to come out of ur comfort zone and see how it troubles to others..

It goes both ways. In parts of Asia, she'd be called a "Westrn sl_t" and worse, mocked for being a bubble-headed ignoramus, "stupid American, don't you know anything" etc.

Maybe we should all take a deep breath and ease up on hurtful comments based upon bad generalizations.

Its pretty obvs that this girl was neevr loved as a child and is getting jealous when families of asain students actually care for them.

Nearly all of Asia follows a extended family relationship and we care about our family. Their is personal life and work life in the western world but they lack the family polictical life which we Asians have.

Whether your Pakistani, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean etc, we all have our own cluture but we sure the same love and respect for our family.

That is a pathetic statement, you are no one to judge her smartness.

She had a genuine point to make. Its library ffs, if you have to talk, go outside. I myself snapped so many times on this very issue. And Asian students here somehow manage to hoarde the walkway too when walking, walk in the biggest groups and walk in the slowest pace possibly. Won't even move when you say excuse me, I have elbowed so many of them "accidentally" and just tanked straight through them. Cause am sorry I have places to get to and things to do. Its usually the international students though. Nothing racist about it at all.

Whatever, she just fcked her life up, her name was posted on Perez Hilton's website, people mirrored all of her personal information/social networking sites after they were pulled, the dean of her college was forced to make a statement and she'll probably face academic censure (not to mention what her careers prospects will face considering she's a poli sci major).

That punishment is probably more than what she deserved for making an airheaded video.

I kind of feel sorry for her now, as far as racism goes, I've seen worse and more malicious on this forum.
