SEPTEMBER 20, 2018
U.S. households added nearly $2.2 trillion to their wealth from April to June this year, the Federal Reserve said on Thursday.

U.S. household wealth totaled $106.9 trillion in the second quarter, the report showed.

The figures reflect the strength of an economy in which the unemployment rate has fallen to 3.9 percent and U.S. stock prices have risen to record levels.

Household borrowing rose at a 2.9 percent annual rate in the April-June period, according to the Fed’s report, down from a revised 3.2 percent growth rate in the first quarter of the year.

The value of corporate equities held by households rose by $800 billion during the second quarter, while the value of real estate rose by $600 billion, the central bank said.

The Fed is expected to raise borrowing costs next Wednesday after its policy meeting to a target range of between 2 and 2.25 percent. It would be the third such quarter percentage point increase this year.

The economy is booming here. As as for unemployment I have not seen anything like this in at least 30+ years. As a college kid I could literally walk off a job and find a comparable job in a couple of days..and that was in the 80s

Unemployment is good or bad in US and which part of USA are you talking about? Your job success depend s on : "your net worth is your network" I been told. So it's not what you know but who you know that lands you a good job.

I am speaking of Texas and things are pretty durn good here. Not sure what you mean by "your net worth is your network". I do know my kids who are college age are loving it. It appears to be an employee's market here. My daughter in her most recent interview was able to spell out what hours she will be available, and they still offered her a job!

I was told by a recruiting manager this, that if I was to progress within this very large organsiation of 400000 employees then I would have to network to progress.

yes that would be true of any organization. Being an island will only hamper your progress. Network yourself by all means, but never be too intrusive, that what I tell my kids. It's OK to have a few drinks with your boss, but just don't get drunk with him.... just an older guys words is all!
