U.K. will buy more than 500 Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicles for £2.8 billion ($3.6 billion)

Mini, Bentley, Land Rover, Jaguar
These are niche cars and do not have huge sales volumes. Point being EU exports far more to UK then the othe way around. Meaning EU needs UK more. United Kingdom has global presence thus the confidence to be a global player rather than be tie down to artificial regional markets. As much as auturky died out in early part of the 20th century with trans-national blocks replacing them [like EU], today the idea of trans-continental trade is coming to the fore as the world shrinks to a global village.

Besides I have never understood why if EU is a open market that helps the consumer with lowest proced produce/products why water melons from Spain are koshur but not so from Marocco or Tunisia. Surely open market must mean being able to buy the best/price product from any place in the world.

My daughter has a Mini but essentially it is a German built car. Only the brand legacy is British. I have a BMW 4 series, wife a Mercedez A class. Wonder what you own that is from UK?

Mini has sold 2.5million cars (first and second generation of new Mini) from 2001 till 2012 and the number is still increasing with the third generation build now ...thats not a niche model.

Nothing at the Mini is German build.
1. all Mini are build in Cowley in the UK (the same plant were the orginal Mini was build) ... since 2012 a second production plant has open in the Netherlands to fit the market demand.
2. the engines of the first generation were from tritec (Brasil) and Toyota, of the second generation from PSA (France) and only the diesel engine was from BMW, at the third generation all engines are now from BMW
3. The only German at the thing is development planing organistation recunstruction of the old plant and install modern production technic.

In the UK they still produce between 1.6 to 1.8 million vehicles a year, the problem was the bad managment of british industry the reason why all major british car manufactors are under froeign control.

BMW > Mini and Rolce Royce
VW > Bentley
Tata > Jaguar and Land Rover
PSA > Vauxhal

For the 1.6 to 1.8 million vehicles produced in the UK the UK needs the EU because 95% of them are sold in the EU

nice documation of BBC what went wrong in the UK

Grudgingly accept that. I learn't to drive on British built cars. Hillman Avenger [later Marina] and then Ford Cortina. The Hillman was terrible. After 1984 [I passed my test in 1982] I have always owned German or French cars.
