Two warships of Japan Maritime Self Defense Force have arrived at Chittagong port. The two warships JS Uraga and JS Hirado arrived at Chittagong port on Saturday (January 6) at around 3.15 pm on a goodwill visit. At this time the well-equipped band of the navy welcomed the two ships. Later, Chief Staff Officer of Chittagong Naval Area Captain Masudul Karim Siddiqui welcomed the captains of the two ships.

Local high-ranking officials of the Navy including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh were present at the time. Earlier, when the two visiting ships arrived in the waters of Bangladesh, the navy ship 'Pratya' greeted them.

While the two ships are in Bangladesh, a delegation including the Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh will pay a courtesy call on Commander Chittagong Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation and Chairman Chittagong Port Authority.

It is hoped that the visit of the two ships will play an important role in further strengthening the friendly cooperation between Bangladesh and Japan. It may be mentioned that the two ships will leave Bangladesh on January 10 after a three-day goodwill visit.

The Japanese can give us some 5 year old reconditioned frigates and fighter jets. Hope BRTA would not object.

He actually DID IT (how predictable). Now reputable media recycling his Bogus news
Bangladesh Navy could acquire Kawasaki P-1 maritime patrol aircraft (navyrecognition.com)

5 year old Japanese equipment will last us for the next 40ish years. i'm not even joking their stuff is very advanced. The problem is that they usually dont sell offensive hardware (maybe only few exceptions , certainly not for BD). Even if they did, we couldn't afford it.

However sweet your proposal may be, but I do not think a Kindergarten student is able to learn the knowledge of a Ph.D. student however he is taught and infused with knowledge and technology.

The engine is the heart of a ship, a train locomotive, a truck, a steamer, or a river launch. In the case of BD, our kindergarten students are unfortunately unable to build even a launch engine. They probably use the Japanese Yammer engines which are built for other purposes.

We are building the bodies of a few ships by cutting and welding the steel plates and all other related materials including engines are bought from abroad.

It is because we cannot produce them. So, Yamato class is a far cry. Japan started to build it in 1930s and completed in probably 1940.

This year, it is 2022 and Golden Bangladesh is unable to build even the tiniest engine or any important mechanical goods. It has not even entered a Kindergarten. BD may not develop any time in the future unless it ventures for mechanical production.

i was making fun of a certain BD defence blogger.
The Yamato was a waste of resources, sitting idle most of the time nicknamed ''officers floating hotel'' . they should have made use of their limited resources to make more aircraft carriers. its not relevant in modern warfarBut that's for a different thread

I like how a lot of what DefSeca talks about for Bangladesh, Pakistan ends up doing...

Type 054A frigates
J-10C
Custom frigate design built locally (Jinnah-class)

It gives people like me and @Zarvan hope.

in that case , PAF will one day operate a twin engine dedicated maritime strike squadron

seriously though, congrats on the recent purchases.
i see all this talk about Su-35 for maritime strike however (my opinion) if you wanted to operate a twin engine strike aircraft why not Su-34 (dedicated deep strike platform) or Su-30 instead of Su-35. I know Su-30 has become a meme at this point , but it has long legs and the Russian land based Naval Aviation operates Su-30 in maritime strike role.

Maybe , MAYBE we could see a Fleet Air Arm for the PN in the future 😎 ?

tbh the Su-34 sounds like the best fighter for Air Force Strategic Command, i.e., deterrence and long-range SOW strikes. The side-by-side seating arrangement, long-range/endurance and heavy payload capacity are all valuable features for that role.

I hope the following list of Japanese-made aircraft carriers will make you happy.

1) Hosho 1922

2) Akagi 1927

3) Kaga 1928

4) Ryujo 1933

5) Soryu 1937

6) Hiryu 1939

7) Shoho 1939

8) Zuiho 1940

9) The Taiyo was added in September 1941

10) The Unyo was added in May 42

11) The Junyo was added in May 1942

12) The Hiyo was added in July 1942

13) The Chuyo was added in November 1942

14) The Ryuho was added in December 1942

14 carriers were just enough. I hope you will not them built another 14 aircraft carriers. Japan sent only 6 of these to attack Pearl Harbor.

Note also that today's China and India have only two carriers each when it is 2022, and Japan built its first carrier in 1922. But why do you suddenly think Yamato was a waste of money?

Can little persons like you or me criticize things belonging to big powers that happened hundred years before? We can only study and learn about past history.
