Two Dalit Children Burned Alive in India

CHANDIGARH: A group of upper caste Rajput men allegedly poured petrol on and set on fire a Dalit family of four, killing two children and leaving their parents with serious burns in Sumped village in Faridabad on Tuesday morning.

The children, two-and-a-half-year-old Vaibhav and nine-month-old succumbed to burns, while their parents Jitender and Rekha are fighting for their lives at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.

The incident has deepened fears for the safety of Dalits in Haryana.

Sources said that early Tuesday morning, a group of men, allegedly acquainted to the Thakur families of the village, entered the Dalit family's home, doused the victims with petrol and set them on fire. Preliminary police inquiries indicate that a piece of property was the cause of rancour between Jitender and the Rajput men.

Police have been deployed in the village in large number to maintain law and order.

For those people who don't know this , the land was most probably belonged to those culprits at some point of time in the past , it was a common practice to bring dalits from different far away regions and give them land and allow them to cultivate it , later the profit was shared by the original land owner and the dalits but in year ~1972 (in HP) govt came up with the policy of giving the ownership of the land to those who was working on it and not the original owner . hence these land owners lost alot of land in a short period of time. Seems like that policy is back firing now.

Anyways R.I.P to the children and speedy recovery to the parents hope they find the courage to deal with this situation .

One has to be evil to the core to do something like this to a kid, but then every country has their own share. It's a cold blooded murder over property and people wanted to make sure there is no one left to claim any right on the land afterwards. Those who carried out this attack must be given harshest of punishment.
