Turkey is a very fast developing economy of the world and among the 2 fastest growing economies of the Muslim world along with Malaysia. Also the exports are in the range of $ 1 Trillion. Turkey has become the 21st largest economy of the world while multifold increase in the publication of Scientific Research Papers in recent years has brought Turkey from 46th rank to 22nd rank in recent years. Insha Allah in 1 or 2 decade Turkey will take a respectable place in the modern technological world under the govt of the Islamist who will make agaun Turkey the healty and strong man of Europe.

Am I crediting the religion or the people in power under whose period the economic situation in Turkey has changed immensly to take Turkey towards a knowledge based economy.
BTW the re-election of Islamist AKP indicates turkish society's inclination towards Islam and Islamic culture and not towards Secularism imposed forcefully and by conspiracy on them. They have a great history of leadership (Khilafah) under the banner of Islam as well as history of clash with the Crusaders and protection of Muslim lands.

turkey will never become an islamic republic. the turkish military wont let it. plus i know a lot of religiuos turks here and even they dont want turkey to become an islamist state. im sorry bro but your dream is not going to come true.

Its not the matter of masses. Its the matter of how Justice party achieves its agends of making Turkey strong muslim country. After they have made it strong, transformation from being secualrism to islamic state wont be much trouble.

Yes, going all the way in the current situation in the transformation of islamic stateis not appreciable. But it will be one of the things that will happen in the future.

dude the military in that country is very strong no matter what happens they will never let turkey become islamic. personally i think that is a good thing. but the way they deal with stamping out religion out of public life i think it is stupid and discriminatory and frankly disgusting.

The Union of Soviet Socialist Republic (USSR) was a superpower a few years ago. If at that time any one would have said that it will be parted in 15 countries in near future, every one must had called the person a mad or day light dreamer but all its might could not save its status of a super power.
Turkish Athiest generals with the help of anti Islam forces have tried hard in last 90 years or so but they did not wipe out Islam from Turkey even after closing masjids, banning Islamic names, Arabic script of Turkish language, banning Hajj, changing the Islamic Sharia laws with western laws etc.
Quran says:
"And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." (3:54)

I'm affraid this figure is incorrect! Turkey's exports reached almost $92 billion in 2006 against $132 billion imports.
Economy is growing around 6%, well behind UAE, Qatar, Malaysia and Pakistan.
