has been reported that ZAHA (Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle), which will take part in TCG Anatolia, developed with domestic facilities, has started sea tests.
New information about the armored amphibious assault vehicle – ZAHA project for use in the multi-purpose amphibious assault ship TCG Anadolu was shared by Nail Kurt, general manager and CEO of FNSS Defense Systems Company, on the platform “We Visionary”.
Within the scope of the project, FNSS will deliver a total of 27 vehicles, including 23 personnel carriers, 2 command control vehicles and 2 rescue vehicles.
The contract was signed between SSB and FNSS in Ankara on 7 March 2017 in order to meet the needs of the Turkish Navy Command's Armored Amphibious Assault Vehicle (ZAHA).
Armoured Amphibious Assault Vehicle – ZAHA:
ZAHA is a vehicle capable of taking the fastest distance between the ship and the coast during an amphibious landing operation. During the landing phase of the operation, it can sail from the landing docks that dock to the shore, and it provides the troops to land as soon as possible under protection and with the support of fire by increasing the distance between them.
The body design and powerful water jets for reducing resistance in water give ZAHA high mobility with a maximum speed of 70 km / h on land at 7 knots on the sea. ZAHA, which can climb a steep slope of 60 per cent, hold on to a 40 per cent slope, can easily cross 90-centimetre steep obstacles and 2-meter ditches.
ZAHA has high firepower, with its remote command tower housing 12.7 mm MT and 40 mm automatic grenade launchers. ZAHA has three different configurations: Personnel Carrier, Command Vehicle and Recovery Vehicle. The UKSS on the vehicle was designed by FNSS.
