Turkish Missile Programs

I think the longer range version of SOM Cruise missile is already being worked on. This news is about a ballistic missile.
But whats the need of such long range ballistic missiles ... Ballistic missiles have high circular error probability and with conventional war head distance of even few 100 meters which is common in ballistic missiles matters alot ...

Anyways my all the wishes are with you brothers ... And i happy for turkey getting stronger and stronger ...

Any idea of what kind of warheads are mounted on ballistic missiles when a country doesn't possess nukes? What kind of damage can they do?

Conventional high-explosive.

Used a lot on Scud Missiles by 3rd world countries.

Cheaper and easier to maintain than having an Air Force, even though its less accurate than an airstrike.

If they are acquiring from Pakistan then it will be highly accurate and ballistic missiles are very very accurate. Any one can make a ICBM but the point is to bring down the war head at the location of your choice that's why it take a hell of time to develop a good missile so BM are very accurate and China has anti ship ballistic missiles so you can imagine how accurate ballistic missiles are if they are able to hit a moving ship.

Turkey Announces Development of Long- Range “Bora” Missile
PUBLISHED: FEBRUARY 7, 2017 | BY MISSILE DEFENSE PROJECT

On February 6, Turkey’s procurement office announced that the state-controlled missile manufacturer Roketsan is developing a long-range surface-to-surface missile called Bora. The Turkish Undersecretariat of Defense Industries said that “deliveries continue on in line with the program’s timetable,” but failed to specify if the deliveries referred to prototypes or the actual developed system. Security analysts claim that Turkey will soon be able to produce surface-to-surface missiles with a range of 1,000 km. In 2016, the chief of the Undersecretariat of Defense Industries, Ismail Demir, confirmed that Turkey would pursue development of “offensive” missile capabilities for deterrence purposes.

Don't tell it to Iranians. Everything Iran developing is developed by Iran himself. ( for the Iranian members )

O they know about it but it's another thing they won't admit. Because of them and Qaddafi our national hero was made international pariah.

I likely differ ... China is the only country having anti ship ballistic missile ... No other country have it not even us ...

Second pakistan ballistic missile accuracy is of nasar with increased it keep on decreasing and it is fine as it is not required the reason if you will use it nuclear detonation few 100 meters do not matter at all so from point of use of nuclear weapons they are accurate but not accurate as a strategic war head ...

Roketsan “Bora” ballistic missile reportedly nearing completion

Turkish news outlets (e.g. Milliyet) are reporting that Turkey’s indigenous ballistic missile program – the Roketsan “Bora” – is nearing completion.

Notes & Comments:

Outside of its existence, verifiable information of the Roketsan Bora is scarce. Thus, range, guidance, and delivery systems are not known. However, Turkey is building a comprehensive portfolio of guided stand-off range munitions, such as – among others – the SOM air launched cruise missile, Atmaca anti-ship missile, and TRG-122 artillery rocket.

Considering the scope of Ankara’s indigenization push, the notion of domestically sourced ballistic missiles is to be expected. In fact, a Turkish analogue to a Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR)-compliant ballistic missile, akin to the export Iskander, appears to be nearing. The main question for analysts is the prospect of medium-range – or longer – ballistic missiles. Some Turkish news outlets, such as Habertürk, are suggesting that the Bora version that is nearing completion can reach 1,000 km.

I think it is a cruise missile ... turkey does not have nuclear bombs therefore missile primary targets must be strategic in nature to take out enemy's command and control or other key strategic assets ... ballistic missiles are less accurate therefore not suitable for the purpose ... cruise missile are more required b turkey ...
Old ballistic missile are inaccurate which is true but modern ballistic missile demonstrated by Russia, China and Iran proves ballistic missile can hit pinpoint precision. One thing abt advance ballistic missile over cruise missile is fast speed with up to Mach 4-7 but easier to detect of its flight profile. But only advance and powerful countries have those early warning satellite system. Small states will be very vulnerable compare to ballistic missile strike.

A necessary addition to the arsenal. We should produce enough to pulverize neighboring capitals 5 times over if need be. Only this way can we deter unwarranted aggression towards us, the type of agresson we have been dealing with for the past years

How you going to pulverize without nukes. Just with ballistic missiles?

Raze important and strategic buildings (government buildings, military hqs) to the ground and also inflict exceedingly high casualties on local population via targeting important civilian hubs (airports/hospitals/ metro stations etc) to cause additional physiological trauma and render the population of the hostile country more docile. Ofcourse "pulverize" is over stated I accept that, but who knows what kind of results could be achieved if the government led and supported R&D into newer, more deadly conventional explosives to pack into warheads of our new missile ? There is a lot of potential
