Turkish Gendarmerie receives its first T-129 ATAK

.
Interesting. The Jandarma seems to be the only Gendarmerie operating attack helicopters now !

Gendarmerie in Turkey is different than in other countries, its much more than just a law enforcement agency, Neptune described it pretty well in this post.

Atak will be surely a valuable asset for the anti terror operation of Jandarma.

In all honesty,I don't see any difference between let's say the Jandarma and French Gendarmerie. Both have basically the same tasks and missions. Although, the Jandarma provides some sort of public services to the populations in areas where the state's presence (and its other services) is deficient. But I can understand the concept.

Obviously both forces do not face the same kind of threats and do not operate in the same kind of environment. The one the Jandarma is in actually requires special equipments to carry on its duties.

That was my point, oficially Jandarma has specified tasks but in reality it goes far beyond those.

In my opinion, Army Aviation should stop using it's assets in anti-terror operation inside Turkey (also Airforce). According to laws, Army is responsible for border protection against threats that come from outside of the borders.

Police is responsible from city centers.

Gendarmerie is responsible from rural areas. Means, Anti-Terror operations inside of Turkey should be done by only Gendarmeria, she should also have CAS aircrafts (such as armed Hürkuş and Hürjet), as well as armed UAVs and Attack choppers.

Army aviation/Airforce should not be kept busy on interrior security issues but should be used in Syria/Iraq/other foreign lands if necessery.
