It already is at 3,50... and we still have a month left.

ps Euro is at 3,71. Looks like the baloon called "Great economic policy of AKP"is also going down the drain.

But wouldn't a weaker TL be better for the Turkish economy?

It would make your exports more competitive and less people would buy imported goods since they would be more expensive. This would lead to lower unemployment and a lower trade-deficit.

These are our good days. See the chaos when EU starts putting economic embargos.

It is good when your currency loses let's say 5% of it's value... not 60% in the last couple years. Just in one month USD got 0.5 TL more expensive. But I guess you can see the bright side of every bad thing that happens so it's all good- Erdogan is still the best. :smitten:

West using it's economy gun against Turkiye just like coalition time in 2000-2001.

They have tried everything literally everything to take Erdogan down but they failed. Now the last but most effective weapon, economy weapon is under use.. They know that Turkish people very sensitive about economy and our past proves that everyday gov. was gone after failed economic policies.

Well this time they can't be success coz Turks will stand behind Erdogan. It's time to get our revenge for Turkish people. Time to put boycott on the goods are from west.

If Turks have pride, dignity and honour, they would never buy western made cars.

We do not live in our own little Anatolian village anymore. Euro and espacially USD are gaining value against emerging countries currencies worldwide. This rally is not specific to Turkey. USD is even on the rise against Euro and Yen - thanks to Trump.

Turkish Parliament ratifies deal on Turkish Stream gas pipeline

n_106831_1.jpg

The Turkish Parliament passed a bill ratifying an intergovernmental agreement with Russia on building the Turkish Stream gas pipeline late on Dec. 1.

Ankara and Moscow signed the gas pipeline agreement in Istanbul on Oct. 10 after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting in a bid to further normalize ties after the jet crisis.

It was planned that the offshore section of the Turkish Stream gas pipeline would comprise four stretches with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters (bcm) each.

However, talks on the project were subsequently suspended, including due to the crisis in bilateral relations.

After talks were held between Erdoğan and Putin in St. Petersburg in August 2016, a decision was made to resume works under the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project, to set up a working group and to prepare a roadmap.

In the intergovernmental agreement, the number of pipeline branches has been decreased to two, each with a capacity of 15.75 bcm.

The first branch will supply gas directly to Turkey, while the second will be used to deliver gas to European countries through Turkey.

Yes. We have huuuuge current account deficit. It is not sustainable, it makes ₺ lose value against $ every year.

In my opinion, government should pay all of it's foreign debt (roughly $80billion) and lower interest rate to %3, it will make $ to jumpp 5₺, a big devalue. It is needed to cut imports, start industrialism and depend on only interrior debt in national money.

It will crush current special enterprises which have huge foreign debt. But even if government wont devalue, ₺ will devalue itself in 2-3 years. Better now than later.

@mohamed ali

Turkish economy is bumped into a wall due to fcked up both internal&foreign policies. Unfortunately our gov. sh*t in everything in 15 years then we now having greatest economic crisis there in Turkiye.

Turkiye has been living whit economic crisis since 2009. You admit or deny it, it doesn't matter the fact is out there. Each years crisis has gone deep down but this is the deepest one so far.

Main issue is that we can't sell our goods. I meant by that is can't export coz we lost our costumers the result of fcked up policies of ak party-Erdogan.

I have been living in Thailand since 2006. In 2006 1 Turkish lira was 20 Thai baht now it's 1 lira=10 Baht. 50% value loss in 10 years.

Most of akpeans think that our economy is doing good but having foreign currency issues due to Trump election hede hode...

Second problem is that my people have been using credit from banks and they are in dept. This situation is beyond of the level our precious gov. is able to solve it.

Both president and prime minister are aware of up coming economic disaster. That's the why Erdogan demanded us to exchange our investments in foreign currencies in Turkish lira. They are so desperate right now and don't exactly know what to do. Till 2009 they managed the economy due to selling every single assets of gov. under name of privatisation policy. They got fresh money from it till end of 2009. Then they got nothing left to sell. Since that we have been struggling and our economic condition isn't good enough.

I am telling the truth of our fcked up economic story here but some of akpeans will object whatsoever...

I hope this crisis is because of coup attemp, state emergency and the purge FETO member but not deep crisis
