Welcome move, we shouldnt leave opportunities for the sake of others because nobody will do it for us either, we already lost enough for populism.

Exactly. You are spot on. Sensible Mature powers always put their national interests before anything else. Only dumb weak delusional radical countries will allow emotions and other silly religious reasons to dictate their foreign policy or national interests. As far as a country can benefit from a project or relation with another then it ought to follow t through for the beneft of that country and its citizens. Your citizens well-being is what matters most at the end of the day. As they often say, the end justifies the means. :). Kudos to Turkey.

I have mixed feelings about these bridges esspecially from canakkale and from the kocaeli which has been used by a handfull of people. What I see is a bridge that could block a navy fleet or atleast enroute them to somewhere...?

It wont block more than the three bridges in Istanbul but whats stupid is the system they use to build them which results in transit fees of absurd high prices like above 100$ each time.

We pay 40$ per year and use the whole highway system in Switzerland without any toll station.

how much gas does israel have anyway,?

around 600 bcm , not a lot but they can manage 6 bcm for export and 4 for internal use
Azerbaijan for example will reach 60 bcm with only 1.1 bcm going to internal use due to alternative energies by 2025

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 14

By Orkhan Quluzade – Trend:

Turkey wants to connect Israeli gas supplies to the Southern Gas Corridor project, said Cemil Ertem, advisor to the Turkish president, in his interview with the TRT Haber news channel Oct. 14.

Ertem noted that Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak discussed this issue during the meeting with his Israeli counterpart on Oct. 13.

He added also that energy agreements between the two countries can be a catalyst for solving problems in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East regions.

On the sidelines of the 23rd World Energy Congress in Istanbul, Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak and his Israeli counterpart Yuval Steinitz discussed the possibility of a gas pipeline’s construction between the two countries.

Currently, Israel’s proven gas reserves are estimated at 900 billion cubic meters. The country’s promising gas reserves are 2.2 trillion cubic meters, according to Steinitz. Meanwhile, total volume of Israel’s natural gas reserves is about three trillion cubic meters.

The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. It envisages the transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region to the European countries through Georgia and Turkey.

At the initial stage, the gas to be produced as part of the Stage 2 of development of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz field is considered as the main source for the Southern Gas Corridor project. Other sources can also join this project at a later stage.

As part of the Stage 2 of the Shah Deniz development, the gas will be exported to Turkey and European markets by expanding the South Caucasus Pipeline and the construction of TANAP and TAP.

if Israel and Turkmenistan join the project, Azerbaijan will be making around 1 to 1.5 bil just for letting other countries use its infrastructure :D

this could solve the Palestine question. let Palestine have 10% to 15% of the gas profits, but they have to remove Hamas from power or at least from being a military organization. stop firing rockets and building tunnels into Israel.

Israel stops the settlements and even returns some that have already been completed. remove the embargo, build a modern seaport, airport, and invest in fixing their energy problem with either natural gas fired plants or renewable energy.

U.S cuts Israel aid in half and gives the other half to fixing Gaza infrastructure.

all and all Palestine could be getting a few billion dollars in aid every year just not to mess with Israel.

it's not like Israel is going anywhere anytime soon.
