The Greek Armed Forces will receive satellite phone service from a Turkish company, Globalstar Avrasya, which also provides service to 30 other countries.
The Globalstar satellite phones are regarded as one of the most secure communication tools, as this equipment makes illegal wiretapping almost impossible through its complicated and insurmountable ciphering ability. The satellite phones convert conversations into 3-trillion combinations that would make it almost impossible to decipher. The Turkish-made satellite phones were previously delivering services in only 13 Middle Eastern countries, but recently a number of Eastern European and African countries have requested the use Globalstar Avrasya satellite phones. Greece and Finland have recently signed an agreement with the company to use the satellites phones.

All intelligence-sharing and communication systems in Turkey are being directed and managed by Turkish engineers. Only Telecommunications Directorate (TİB) can reach communications records. The large majority of Globalstar Avrasya’s subscribers, which is an independent operator of Globalstar that has more than 500,000 subscribers across the world, are state institutions and the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). The Turkish military’s secure communications are being realized through this system during operations.

With the new agreement, subscribers from Finland, Estonia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Moldova, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Jordan, Libya, Egypt, Kuwait, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates will be able to receive phone services from the Turkish company.

. . .
Globalstar isn't Turkish at all, Globalstar Avrasya is only service provider to the Middle East

.
So? Communications of these countries (now Greece included) still pass through Globalstar-Avrasya's router systems located in Turkey, under the monitoring of Turkish engineers.

.
Technicians, not engineers, dummy.
It is like saying Intel is an Israeli company, while having R&D and manufacturing facilities in Israel Intel is not Israeli company.
According to Globalstrat site Greece receive its services through Italian Elsacom. Turkish press seem to be so amateurish...

.
Archlemon, I bet it's a combination of both technicians and engineers who work there actually. Still, though, as long as the communications are routed through facilities in Turkey with Turkish people doing all the monitoring and rouiting, it gives us a tactical opportunity to 'tap in' when we deem it necessary.

Look at the bottom of the article dummy, source "todayszaman"

I think it sounds like this news item has been a bit poorly prepared...A company called Qualcomm was the manufacturer of Globalstar phones. I am not sure there is a company in Turkey that actually produces a satellite phone yet. Aselsan should have the R&D experience for it but it will cost some significant money to develop one....
